Tourists don't really visit the parts of the city where normal people live.

This thread is trash. Even the basis of this thread is trash, why would you ever go off of some random person's opinion from a televised show?

It's just as worthless as everyones comment here. It's not a safer version of New York, but not everyone here gets shot, I walk around downtown all the time, lots of people, no one here has to dodge bullets like the way some of these delusional posters describe it.

I'm out. What a display of garbage.

NYC is afer than Chicago. If you stick to the tourist areas you will be safe everywhere except Miami.

What? Man lol Miami is getting super bashed tonight. Miami has areas that other cities have where all the tourists go its no different. Plus most tourists go to Miami Beach. People act like the WHOLE city of Miami is one big hell hole where everybody gets killed when actually crime has gone down and also there ARE nice areas within city limits. Since when do you think you'll be safe everywhere in a city even where the tourists go? Times Square almost got blown up a couple of weeks ago by some idiot terrorist with a car bomb...and don't forget about the World Trade Centers.

I do.

The first time I went to NYC, I stayed in the Bronx, close to Mott Haven. Granted I'm no ordinary tourist, I always try to find one of the roughest spots to stay at when I visit a city, since I'm from the hood myself. It just seems natural.

The nation's recent fascination with Chicago's crime rate is truly bizarre. Violent crime has been trending downward for almost 20 years, the murder rate is roughly half of what it was 15 years ago and has been stable over the last 3 or 4 years -- but now all of a sudden the New York press is talking about a "murder epidemic." Huh? Nothing has substantially changed over the last few years.

^ Hold on, you can't just act like whats going on in Chicago isn't pretty crazy right now though. If I'm not mistaken wasn't the National Guard supposed to be controlling the Southside soon? I heard something like 50 people got murdered in 47 hours or something lol thats nuts.

No, the National Guard isn't controlling anywhere. One crackpot politician suggested it and now all of a sudden everyone thinks Chicago is about to enter a state of martial law or something. 50 murders in 47 hours? Where the hell do you people come up with this crap?

No, Chicago is not as safe as NYC. But seriously, get a grip.

I might've been wrong but I heard something like 50 murders in 47 hours. Personally I think a lot of things on this site are exaggerated there are plenty of nice areas in Chi-Town. I'm just glad that the National Guard thing was just a thought, that wouldn't have looked too good for the city.
