New York is much safer then Chicago. Chicago has a terrible crime wave right now nothing NYC has seen in many years. NYC is a very safe city for its size.
Lol I still don't see how Chicago's crime rate has gone down. So they're talking on WGN News about how crazy Chicago is right now just for the hell of it?
You're an excellent specimen of what I was referring to in my previous post -- accepting the media presentation without any regard for the actual facts or context. To you, the facts don't matter because WGN says that "Chicago is crazy," or at least you've decided to interpret their presentation of the situation as such. But crazy compared to what? Compared to last year? Or to 5 years ago? Or compared to, say, St. Louis or Cleveland or Louisville? Or have you even bothered to contemplate the basis of your conclusion?
You fear for your life downtown? I have been to Chicago before and felt like downtown was one of the nicer areas.
Yes, daily, even when I'm not downtown I wonder if someone saw me and for no other reason than to keep the crime rate up, find where I live to attack me.
I've been lucky, only five break-ins in the past three months. Maybe it's because of my connection to the mob, because that's how most people in Chicago get by: with organized crime.
It's the media. It's the only city in America with like...50-70 people bein' shot in just one weekend && things like that. I don't think it's the crime rate, it's the crazy incidents Chicago has with so many people bein' shot in a short period of time that you don't see anywhere else.
a lot of people get shot on the weekends especially when its warm in a lot of cities no tjust chicago.
funny thing is out of all those 50 people who get shot its usually like like 4 or 5 - 10 homocides that come out of all that shooting.
Then why is the violent crime rate down from this time last year?
Again, where do people get this idea that Chicago is somehow spinning out of control? "It's the media" is the standard response. Great, but shouldn't adults possess the ability to gain some perspective about what the media tells us and how they tell it, or are we just too lazy any more to bother?
It gets old having to keep dealing with statements like this. The crime rate in Chicago has not significantly changed in the last few years; and to the extent that it has, it has been trending downward, not upward.
i think i agree with you , i know chicago has a higher crime rate then nyc, but for some reason if i went back their(been their twice 2006/2005) i think it will feel safer then it did when i went those 2 years. the media can make any gullible person beleive all of its lies. thats why its good to do research on your own lol.
New York is much safer then Chicago. Chicago has a terrible crime wave right now nothing NYC has seen in many years. NYC is a very safe city for its size.
nyc has seen over a 27 percent increase in murders this year, i believe now its a 10 percent increase. Chicago has seen the opposite for the beginning of the year but i think now their murder is up by like less then 5 percent.
nyc is also going through a mini crime wave this year of its own.
btw nyc is very safe for a city its size in the safe areas.
Don't know how to read? Go wake your neighbor up and get him to read it out to you.
^^ And those numbers in the picture aren't murder rates...
ok so in this map of chicago , basically anything in the green range is somewhat safe or low in crime. while anything from the yellow to red/orange range is very violent in crime from bad to very bad?
and also here is another question if you could compare chicago size to nyc , how many boroughs of nyc can make chicago?? i am speaking about land size not population.
