It really is a great comparison, the lifestyle, the city scape, the activities, the weather, the people, the culture, everything is almost the opposite for these two cities.
I bear witness that the poll is 20/20 (tie) between the two. I never expected San Diego to come such a long way in the poll. Lol.
I must admit I’m shocked too. I was wondering which city was winning the poll; of course you know you can’t view the results until you’ve placed your vote. I had to really think about this one before I was willing to vote.

From the very start, Philadelphia has kept it's lead in the poll, from what I've seen. Right after your comment San Diego tied with Philadelphia.
Lol, looks a bit different now. But it's still impressive that it can hold it's ground on Philadelphia, even though it's CD but still..
So? The bigger urban area should always win? Being the birth place of US gives you lots of pride, but for daily life that really doesn't change anything coz you can't dwell on the past.
BTW, Philly being the 4th largest urban area is from 2000 census. Now from every updated indicator, be it MSA or CSA, it is almost 100% not the 4th largest any more.

Philly= 4th largest urban area/ birthplace of the US
San Diego= 15th largest urban area/Borderd by a practical war zone

Perfect example of one of the haters I just mentioned
If you want sunny weather and you like to sit in traffic for hours on end, it's San Diego by a landslide. If you prefer a wealth of culture, events, great restaurants and an easygoing lifestyle, it's Philly.
This isn't LA, traffic here is not that bad at all. And San Diego is a more laid back, easy going lifestyle compared to Philly or any major east coast city. It's one of the most laid back big cities in the country, the beach lifestyle does that to a city.
Philly seems like a really underrated city and probably offers one of the best values for living in a vibrant urban environment in the country. I wouldn't mind trying to live there for a little while but overall I'd would settle for SD.
and I voted for Philly by mistake, because the order in the poll is opposite from the title.

People hate on Philly because its by far the most provincial big city in the US
LOL actually people hate on Philly b/c of the hater-a$$ posters it produces here like yourself. You of all people complaining about other people being haters is like T.O. getting mad at Donovan McNabb for running his mouth too much lol. Man you have no clue!
