Baltimore VS New Orleans
Both cities get negative publicity for their crime, both get over looked, and both play a huge role for their states economies. They both have nice areas that people fail to see. Both cities have been in the top 10 largest cities list in US history before. Baltimore at one point was 2nd only to NYC on population and held that title for 2 decades.
Baltimore VS New Orleans is to talk about and compare what each city has and what each one can work on.
So the criteria would be;
- Life style
- Economy overall
- Education
- Metropolitan Area population
- City Area population
- Professional Sports
- College Sports
- City Scape (downtown, skyline, notable buildings)
- Public Transportation
- Major Interstates and other roads
- Airport
- Housing
- Food (Ethnic food, unique food of it's own, etc..)
- Proximity to other locations
- Economy growth and diversity (Post Recession climate)
- Art galleries
- Music scene
- Natural scenery
- Museums
- Parks
- Shopping
- Climate (which you prefer, and why?)
- Notable companies headquartered here
- Anything else you can possibly think up and want to add
You don't have to answer all the criteria, just the ones you actually know. Again keep it civil and make sure to give reasoning as to why you picked a certain location, don't just write the city name and leave it unexplained.

Two of my favorites cities! Both have lots of quirkiness and cultures. Both are gorgeous.
I prefer Baltimore with my bias of growing up nearby. I prefer Baltimores urban environment, airport, and climate especially. New Olreans definenlty has things on Baltimore though. Baltimore definently doesn't have a French Quarter, and of course New Orleans doesn't have an Inner Harbor.

Baltimore's greatest asset today is it's location in BosWash and it's history.
New Orleans is/was it's port and it's history, and unique culture.

Baltimore.
I've been to both, and though New Orleans is an extremely unique place, it didn't fulfill the urban quality I like in cities. Plus the location and weather of Baltimore is a whole lot better IMO. Maryland is also one of my favorite states, so this was an easy decision for me.
New Orleans has a more lively downtown though.

This is a great match-up, and rather tough. I'll take a quick stab at it:
- Life style: depends on personal preference.
- Economy overall: I'm tempted to give the edge to B-more on this one, especially in light of the oil spill which is sure to have negative ramifications for New Orleans in the near future.
- Education: even though Baltimore has Johns Hopkins, I think New Orleans has a more well-rounded higher education scene with Tulane, Loyola, Xavier, etc.
- Metropolitan Area population: Baltimore
- City Area population: Baltimore's is higher, but NOLA's probably growing faster
- Professional Sports: gotta give this one to NOLA, just for the Super Bowl champs the Saints alone.
- College Sports: not sure on this one, but I'd think NOLA
- City Scape (downtown, skyline, notable buildings): NOLA, but B-more's no slouch either.
- Public Transportation: B-more (light rail, MARC), but NOLA's no slouch either with its vintage streetcars.
- Major Interstates and other roads: I know NOLA has I-10 and B-more has I-95. Other than that...?
- Airport: not sure what the stats say on that one. Have not flown into either city's airport
- Housing: tie
- Food (Ethnic food, unique food of it's own, etc..): NOLA all day, but B-more deserves an honorable mention
- Proximity to other locations: B-more
- Economy growth and diversity (Post Recession climate): Not sure
- Art galleries: would think NOLA, but not sure
- Music scene: NOLA
- Natural scenery: NOLA
- Museums: not sure
- Parks: not sure
- Shopping: not sure
- Climate (which you prefer, and why?): B-more gets more snow than I'm used to, but it can get muggier in NOLA than what I'm used to
- Notable companies headquartered here: maybe B-more gets the edge here
- Anything else you can possibly think up and want to add
Nightlife is a category to add here, and of course NOLA takes that one. You'd want to consider seaports also, and NOLA takes that one also (at least for right now).

I remember it was a fad of mine, Baltimore was my favorite city back in the first half of high school. I don't even understand why it was, but I used to like it a lot.
I still like the city, but it's not one of my favorites anymore.
Anyways, I voted for New Orleans, because that city has a strong connection to Houston. Some of my high school teachers were displaced Katrina evacuees (2 teachers in the first half of high school) and I could really feel for the city. It's done a good work at regaining a large portion of it's population back.
But it needs to fix up that crime problem. Otherwise the city is really nice.
- Life style: Toss up, it's subjective to where you prefer living.
- Economy overall: New Orleans
- Education: Baltimore
- Metropolitan Area population: Baltimore
- City Area population: Baltimore
- Professional Sports: Toss up.
+ Baltimore: NFL (Ravens), MLB (Orioles)
+ New Orleans NFL (Saints), NBA (Hornets)
- College Sports: New Orleans (Hosts Sugar Bowl)
- City Scape (downtown, skyline, notable buildings): Toss up on skyline, but NOLA has a more active downtown.
- Public Transportation: Baltimore
- Major Interstates and other roads: Baltimore
+ New Orleans I-10, I-610, I-510 (Future I-49)
+ Baltimore I-70, I-83, I-97, I-95, I-395, I-795, I-895, I-695
- Airport: Baltimore
- Housing: Toss up, subjective on ones personal preference.
- Food (Ethnic food, unique food of it's own, etc..): New Orleans, it's own unique style of food and multicultural food from majority of the cultures, Baltimore would have a large multicultural scene for food too.
- Proximity to other locations: Baltimore
- Economy growth and diversity (Post Recession climate): Don't know.
- Art galleries: Baltimore
- Music scene: New Orleans
- Natural scenery: Toss up.
- Museums: Toss up.
- Parks: Toss up.
- Shopping: New Orleans
- Climate (which you prefer, and why?): Toss up, too subjective, depends on who the person is.
- Notable companies headquartered here: Not a clue
- Anything else you can possibly think up and want to add
Both cities have the same number of sister cities (11)
Both cities have been given a lot of attention for crime
Both cities have had a super bowl win in the start of a decade Baltimore (2000) & New Orleans (2010)
Baltimore was the first city to cross the 100,000 population mark after NYC, New Orleans was 3rd.
Both cities have been in the top 10 largest cities by population and have held it for decades.
