They are going to have western rails when they extend the lines to the airport. I also heard they have plans in the future to expand rails across to Miami Beach, that being said it could take like 20 years.

The extension of the line to the airport is about 1-2 miles its nothing special its just good to have a direct connect to the airport.
Votes voted for a half penny tax years ago to improve transit but knowning Miami Politics (a lot like Chicago) nothing got done expect for the expansion to the airport. What metrorail needs to do is run up Biscayne BLVD then turn west on 186th or Ive Dairy to the stadium.
They should run something west across SW8th street and something west across SW88th. Also run a line into South Beach and maybe expand the Hialeah line up to Miami lakes. Now this would take 10-15 years and billions of dollars but this would make Miami transit up there as some of the best in the US. The monorails in downtown is fantastic and when more and more people keep moving into Downtown it will be used a lot. It is FREE too.

Public transportation category isn't Miami's fault. It's being compared to one of the top 3 PT cities in USA (NYC, Chicago, DC).
Like I stated earlier this thread is an unfair comparison for Miami. Miami is a nice city, and this comparison will only overshadow all of it's beauty because of the larger Chicago.
I really don't knwo which to choose. I passed through Chicago, but use to live in Miami. The metropolitan areas look good, but I was living in the hood (Liberty city) so I didn't see it all. Plus I hear alot about Chicago being bad soo...
