SACRAMENTO

In Chronological Order:

NEW HELVETIA - (New Switzerland) - Sacramento was discovered by John Sutter, a Swiss pioneer who discovered Gold and The California Gold Rush. Sutter named the new city New Helvetia. Several businesses, shops, restaurants have taken this name over the years.

RIVER CITY - Two rivers merge in Sacramento. The Sacramento River which starts way north in Mt. Shasta flows through SAC on its way to SF Bay. And, the American River - Starts east of Sac in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and flows down the foothills through the heart of the Sacto Metro - Gold was discovered on the American in 1849........that is where the SF 49ers get their name.

The Capital City - Sacramento is the Capital City of 39 Million Californians.

The City of Trees - There is a 100 year old canopy of trees throughout the main part of the city.

Camellia City - You can see this flowering bush/tree everywhere.

Sacto - Shorten version.

SacTown - Seems to have started when the Sacramento Kings moved to SAC.

Fort Worth

Cowtown - town history of cattle drives/Cowboy Western image

Funkytown - urban nickname since the 70's when it was a party town for blacks

The Funk - see above (and I HATE this one, btw)

Fort Party Worth - again... see above

Panther City - because of a diss by a Dallas news paper in the late 1800's, saying that Fort Worth was so boring, a panther was seen sleeping in the middle of Main Street (you can see images of panthers everywhere in Downtown, in the minor leauge baseball team, and several high schools around town)

City Where the West Began/Begins - apparently, geographical reason and frontier reasons... although, St. Louis could be known as this.

817 - area code

F-Dub or F-Dubya - for short/accent

Murda Worth - from the 70's/80's, when Fort Worth was one of the murder capital of the country. Some still use this even though it's been ranked as one of the most livable cities in the country as of late

Fort Worthless - a detraction

SACRAMENTO

A few more tidbits & nicknames about SAC

- It was the Gold from California's Mother Lode (just east of Sacramento) that helped the Union win the Civil War. The USA would have gone broke without it.

The Capital City - Sacramento is the Capital City of 39 Million Californians.

The City of Trees - There is a 100 year old canopy of trees throughout the main part of the city.

The Camellia City - You can see this flowering bush/tree everywhere.

Sacto or SAC - Shorten versions.

SacTown - Seems to have started when the Sacramento Kings moved to SAC.

The 916 - SAC's Area Code, the other area code is 530.

SMF - Sacramento International Airport

Jersey City:

Formal: Chilltown, Wall st West, 6th borough (unfortunately, concerning the last two, we hate it but the marketing teams and politicians think its actually a good idea..smh),

Informal: Jungle City, Gritty City, Bullet Town, Dirty Jersey (was first to be called it till S .NJ started to use it) New Jersey City (NJC), JC, J-City, JERSEY, the 201 (it is shared but JC is county seat), Liberty City and City Unseen.

I don't know why the last informal one is there but i guess its do to the fact we never really get recognized or noticed since were next to ny and HBK, we get overlooked a lot, but i do kinda like it. Makes it sound mysterious. Liberty has been mentioned, but very rare and not really known. It has been referenced as that due to the fact that the statue lies within city limits and is closer to Jc rather than ny.
