I'm just starting this thread out of curiosity. New York, Miami, and Los Angeles, for the most part, are considered the 3 major cities with the most prominent Hispanic populations in the country. Mexicans traditionally in LA, Cubans in Miami, and Puerto Ricans in New York City. Granted, the Latino communities in these cities has diversified dramatically in the last 20 to 30 years (New York and Miami, especially).

That being said I just want to know which "barrios" do you think are better as a whole from each city. Do you like the barrios in East LA, Little Havana or South/West Bronx the best? Any differences among the people in each (except for their nationalities, of course)?

My favorite barrio is personally the Mission in SF.

Chicago has the largest Mexican population in the US I think. What does the term barrio translate as?

#2 mexican behind l.a. , #2 puerto rican behind nyc. the national mexican museum of art is also there so... has to count for something...of course this is flyover country w/ arctic temperatures and 8 months of winter , so why would anybody ever go there?

barrio means neighborhood in Spanish.
