This just goes to show that size, while important, isn't all that matters. Do Mexico City and Sao Paolo have the wealth and global importance of NYC?

I don't think any other U.S. cities compare to NYC in terms of size, importance, general activity and attractions.

Check it out some time. By themselves, the outer boroughs would be some of the most interesting cities in the U.S.!

There are stretches in a handful of major US cities that can compare favorably with parts of Manhattan (parts of: SF, LA (yes, really), Philly, Boston, DC, and Chicago)

each borough can stand on its own, trust me.

check out the wiki page for nyc.

off the top of my head:

2 airports in queens, 0 in the rest of nyc.
the yankees play in the bronx.
queens has a wildlife refuge.
each borough has many parks.
the mets play in queens.
bk will have the nets in two years.
bk's skyline is pretty dope.
bk has the most ppl.
queens is the largest borough.
queens is the most diverse county in the country and the most diverse borough.
queens has the u.s. open
flushing, queens has a chinatown that is almost as big as manhattan's.
etc

there's a lot more. check out wikipedia. wiki each borough.

Agreed. However, New York manages to compile favorable features of other cities into one package.

That said, I'm not trying to be a New York booster implying that other cities suck -- I can completely see why people would prefer other cities in the U.S. to New York (which can be overly expensive, over-crowded, and too-fact-paced). IMO, New York offers the most thorough urban experience in the U.S., but not necessary the best quality of life.
