Red face Moving to Charlotte for Job at Social Services Possibly

Hey Everybody!!

I am applying for jobs with the Department of Social Services in Charlotte. I will need to find an apartment if I get the job. I would love to have suggestions as to where I should rent. I am wanting to get a 1 bedroom, $600 or less. Obviously I want to live in a SAFE place as I will be living alone. I've read some of the other posts but have no idea about the areas in Charlotte (East, North, South...etc). I don't mind commuting but would preferr to get to work within 30 minutes or less. Any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated. I do plan on coming to visit and look for apartments within the next two weeks. The things that matter to me are safety, friendly atmosphere, good shopping and entertainment (not clubbing) and churches (non-denominational).

Thanks in advance for all the help!!!!

You might try posting on the charlotte thread, but from what I know of Charlotte, most 1 bedrooms start at around $800 a month. The south area tends to have the appearance of safer, but since I dont live there, dont quote me on that. I visit there though often

Hello,

I would say you can check craigslist...and the charlotte observer (i think). I also have been looking in the charlotte area for jobs and am having a difficult time finding social work/mental health positions. how has your job/apartment search been going?

I saw about six Social Work Jobs located on the Charlotte Mecklenburg County government website.!!!! Excellent pay. Most closed on 11/12/08 but there are some still on there. I didn't end up moving as I wanted to wait until next year as I still prefer to live close to my family but I may end up moving...who knows. Also, I check the above website daily as they post the positions through out the week. Good Luck with your job search...You can always come to Jacksonville as there are plenty of positions open...pay is not as good as other places.
