Many of the hispanic folks in the Cleveland area work in the MANY nurseries that are located adjacent to Lake Erie from Lorain to Ashtabula Counties. Those businesses would not exist as many people will not do that work - at any price.

Haha you're just another ignorant old folk who's only real travel experience is to Canada.
How badly has a few Mexicans who don't speak english REALLY effected your life? The bottom line is, hispanics make up the majority of ethnicity in our country. I don't really care about your views on immigrations, because I'm against it myself.
Americans are just so ignorant about everything. Like their asses are made of gold or something. It's not hard, just learn another language, not for the sake of having to, but because you want to.
Every country I've visited the people have spoken english. They never complained to me about having to know their language, the simply told me that they learn multiple languages growing up and it's fun to practice.
But none of this will probably happen anytime soon because the 45+ Whites who aren't culturally diverse all have the same pathetic arguments.

Unless your an American Indian then your an immigrant just like the poeple you are discriminating against. While I completely agree that all ILLEGAL immigrants need to become legal or go home. To demand some one gets deported for not learning our language is crazy. Why do you care what language someone speaks.
I have never been asked to learn spanish. Im curious who is requiring you to "learn there language."

I am not Hispanic, but I have a Hispanic child. I'm hoping if we move back to Ohio, where I was raised, that I don't encounter any areas, or people, that assume my son shouldn't be there.
Also, the OPs question related to the lack of immigrants (he named Hispanics) who tend to group (as does any immigrant culture) themselves in areas that are of an affordable nature to their families who come here with very little. He was wondering why that had not happened to a certain area.
I'm floored by your comment. I'm not a fan of illegal immigration (as the moderator said...a totally separate post altogether), but it's ignorant to assume that all Hispanics should be deported, and arrested for being here illegally. WE AS A NATION do not require them to learn English. We cater to the Spanish language. Thus, if you are mad that they don't speak English, write to your Congressman, and ask them to change the way this country operates; don't blame the Hispanics for speaking their native language.

Maybe you need to read up on the requirements to become a US citizen!!
What does the citizenship test consist of?
You must know about basic U.S. history and government, and be able to speak, read, and write simple English.
Do I need to be able to speak English to become a U.S. citizen?
Yes, you must be able to read, write, and speak simple English. There are some exceptions for some older and long-time residents, and for some disabled permanent residents

I LOL really hard at this thread.. I just read some comments that made me realize how ignorant much of the older population is... Since when are all spanish speaking individuals from Mexico?? Hell living in the Cleveland area you should know that around here there are BARELY any Mexicans. Most of the spanish speaking population is from Puerto Rico here.. which ironically are legal citizens considering PR is a terroritory of the USA.

Maybe you need to realize that there are many people here LEGALLY who are not yet citizens!!!!!! The issue was that they should all be deported, and aren't here legally.
I was also referring to the fact that while they must learn English, WE,as a country, do not force them to speak it. We can press 2 for Spanish all the time. We cater to the Spanish speaking population. I was not implying that they don't understand English or speak it. They choose not to speak it b/c they do not have to. I know Spanish, and learned it, and could pass a test, but do I speak it all the time, NO. I don't have to. Neither do they. That was my point.

LOL. This is a great comment. I also realized reading this thread that while we were considering moving back home, with our adopted HISPANIC child, that we may want to think twice. I didn't realize how homogenized it still was. Oh well. I didn't take that from the OP's post, but some subsequent posts were pretty off the subject and narrow minded.

I find it funny that everyone is getting so riled up about this and it's obviosly a sort of discrimination. I don't care what sort of color you, your ethnic background what language you speak. What's the problem? Your mad cuz you can't understand what someone is saying? Get over it! I don't know about anyone else out there but if you've got enough time to worry and hassel everybody about people that shouldn't be here then you really need to get alife or take some classes in diversity. Thier are some states that have areas that speak with a very rough accent that I can barely understand and others that speak in a different language all together.
And as for the older WHITE population while I do agree that the older the person the more predujices it's not only caucasian people maybe you need to look to yourself to see if you don't have some issues also. I've seen just as many other nationalities that have a problem accepting others.
BTW I am American Indian (Cherokee) with a mish mosh of other things. look back into your history I'm sure someone of hispanic orgin is in there
