Old Brooklyn
I'm looking at a couple of rentals in the Old Brooklyn neighborhood, specifically Denison Ave. A couple of the houses looked great, but then a few streets looked awful. We are looking for low crime areas, somewhere we can walk our dogs in the evening or night without any problems. Any advice on Old Brooklyn?

Hello laceeanne,
Did you just want to stick to the Old Brooklyn area?
If not, there is Brooklyn and Parma. My personal opinion, I've lived and worked in both Brooklyn and Parma. Both are areas that felt "safe".
Old Brooklyn has certain areas I would not feel very secure...maybe someone else can give more info.

One of my first apartments was in Old Brooklyn. This was in the early 80s! I didn't feel very safe then...I wonder whether or not it has improved or gotten worst? (This was on Ridge Road near Memphis)... Of course, I was a young, single gal....a lot of things spooked me very easily.

Well I don't have to stick strictly to the Brookyln and Old Brooklyn area, I've been looking in Lakewood and Shaker Square, but we really like this one house and there are perks such as low rent and I can have my dogs. Lakewood is just so expensive for two people. Then again I don't know how the average wages run either. We have only a couple weeks left to find a place and have no clue.

If you really like the house I'd see if you can get a month to month lease.
That way you can at least get settled and see what the area is like as far as the people, safety, lifestyle etc...
I've moved enough times with my job to areas I had no idea about. California for one...but I did have friends in the general vicinity that filled me in.
And I know how difficult it can be to find a place that will allow dogs.
If you don't already know check cleveland.com: Everything Cleveland for rentals.
And I don't usually push Craigslist, however, for rentals and things like that they seem to be pretty good in that dept.
Good luck to you!

I just checked out the rentals in Lakewood from the link above...and, they are SO low compared to here in Fort Worth, Texas!! Rentals in our area run about $1200+...and, this is for a smaller home. Apartments are just as much and sometimes even higher (they have GREAT amenities, however...like theatres, car repair centers, full 24-hour gyms, two pools, etc.).
I forgot how inexpensive Lakewood was (and, I have only been gone for 11 years)...

Fantastic old brooklyn
I have a home/storefront going up for sale shortly on Broadview near Spring. Approx. 1500 sq feet up (4 bedrooms, LR, DR) and Kitchen Down with bonus room. Also down in the front are two storefronts. Total sq ft down is another 1500 square feet.
Big and beautiful for anyone looking to run a business and live there.
Just an idea!

Hello,
I'm looking for storefront to open daycare, tell me would this be a good location? I need to have space for 7-8 cars to park and a space to section off a play area. I would also like to know the asking price of it and would consider rent with option, just curious.

I think the Archwood/Denison/Pearl area is fairly quiet - also the area on Denison near the Jennings freeway is ok. There seem to be a lot of problems further west on Denison near W 65th and along Storer and Marvin Avenues.
If I were looking in Old Brooklyn, I'd try to find something in the South Hills or Valley Drive areas which are quieter residential areas that are home to many Cleveland city employees.
