Yes, thanks for the kind words about our great city. I will say that all cities have their good and bad. I try to see the good in everything, and consider it an experience. Cleveland is booming in the construction business, due to all the new developments coming. It's not just the city of Cleveland, it's all throughout northeast Ohio.

Here's a listing of new developments coming to our great city (this doesn't even include movies being filmed here):

As an out-of-stater from the Midwest, there are TONS of wonderful things about Cleveland and I have strongly considered relocating there (helps that the SO is there), but IMO the huge negative is the crime rates. Yes, I know- it's a large city, lots of poverty, etc. but plenty of other large cities have much lower crime rates. Start bringing those down and I think you'd see an influx of families and professionals.

Not counting the suburbs, you'll find that most of the city neighborhoods are relatively safe and not poverty stricken. There are some truly awful neighborhoods especially on the east side. On the other hand, there are also plenty of great neighborhoods that many people don't even realize exist in Cleveland. If you take an out-of-towner to them, it completely changes their views on the city. It's the exact opposite of what has been said in the media about our fair city.

I have to say I put very little into those so called "poorest city in America" rankings. I find it pretty hard to believe when you consider all the solid neighborhoods that the city does have. I look at Detroit and I wonder how in the world can Cleveland be poorer? I just really question how it's even possible when I've been in many major cities where the neighborhoods don't even exist anymore. Even in the worst parts of Cleveland, there's still some signs of an active neighborhood.

So when work slowed down in Indiana i got the bright idea i would come down to Texas and Oklahoma to work, when I leave here next week I will never set foot in either state as long as i live.
I first became interested in Cleveland from Food Network, so many of my favorite shows on there like "Diners, drive-ins and dives" and "My favorite things" kept featuring all these great places in Cleveland. I did become a big Colts fan in Indy but i'm ready to pull for the Browns now.
Cleveland and Ohio have such a rich history, top notch performing arts and museums, not to mention being a great sports town. You think Cleveland sucks? go spend some time in Dallas, Oklahoma City and even Austin now days, I was just there 2 months ago for a week, turned the job down and didn't look back, I won't get into the reasons why, just let me say i'm in construction and felt like i had left the country
Can't wait to check out the West side market and get some of that killer beef jerky, and be able to shop at Trader Joes and Whole Foods again. Here in Oklahoma city if you mention organic they think your a communist or something.
I look forward to starting a new life in Cleveland, I have no doubt your city will make a comeback and win a Championship, it never seems to fail, every time I move to a city one of their sports teams wins a championship.....cheers!!!!!
Hey, welcome to Cleveland. I am from the Indianapolis area as well. Grew up there my entire life. Just a few years ago moved to Cleveland, and love it here! So much culture, awesome city neighborhoods, a real city. I understand how boring Indiana can be. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask, there are a lot of great posters in the Cleveland forum willing to help.

You were siked! For real Siked if you thought Cleveland was similar to Cincinnatti. Cincinnatti is much relative to that of Pittsburgh PA. Cleveland is its own city with its own share of problems. Cleveland serves as another Detroit, a mini Chicago if I can say that. Again, I'm just saying.

Yes, I was being sarcastic. Dollar-for-dollar and amenity-for-amenity, it really doesn't get much better.

This summer has been plenty sunny. Perpetual sun is way overrated anyway. Rain = green.

Austin was a really cool town once. Every body found out and started moving there. It was the 3rd fastest growing city in the country for about 4-5 years in a row.
