Clevelanders, past and present, what is your favorite thing(s) about Cleveland? We are relocating there in June. From all that I have read, Cleveland sounds like a great town, that tends to get a bad rap. So tell me your favorite positive(s) about Cleveland.
Thanks!

Last night downtown was rocking with the Cavs playing a home game and the lights ceremony on Public Square.

We are relocating there as well...Since I was born and raised there and lived there for over 35 years, I have to say downtown cleveland...I wrote this in another area of this site..I 've always said the grass is never greener on the other side and you don't know what you had until you miss it....well I've been away from ohio and my family for 10 years...I've been living over in the washington state/idaho area...Let me put it like this...Once I get back to ohio, I will NOT BE LEAVING AGAIN, lol.......Ohio has the absolute best shops...You can find everything there...The people are much more friendly, the food is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better, the atmosphere is inviting, much more diverse and whole lot more culture.....CAN'T WAIT TO GET BACK THERE....sorry for the long note, but I had to vent, lol.....

Except German! There are like 2, count 'em 2, German restaurants in this town.

My favorite thing is that big beautiful body of water to our north.
I couldn't live anywhere in Ohio except on the lakeshore.
Yes, I would live in Toledo before I would live in Columbus.

I haven't lived there for over 20 years but just a few of the of the things I remember are;

Small enough metro that it is easily navigable. You can get from one side of town to the other in under 45 minutes. Yet it is large enough that it has many big city amenities (e.g. arts, sports, concerts, shopping, etc.).

Great metroparks system. Wherever you are there is always one nearby. And they are free! Or at least used to be.

Lake Erie to the north. Rolling hills to the east and south.

Many other cities just a short day trip away (Pittsburgh, Detroit, Buffalo, Columbus, Cincinnati, etc.)

Here are some of my favorites:

- Snow!

- West Side Market!

- The city isn't too big and it's not too small. I think it's just right.

- Music scene and venues

- Diverse neighborhoods with all their festivals

- The lake

- The metroparks (they're nice and there are so many! Always one nearby)
