I'm an Eastsider, and I prefer Huntington Beach in Bay Village to the Mentor Headlands.

Mentor is definitely "larger" than Huntington, but I think that the sand at Huntington is less rocky.

Edgewater is pretty, and cleaned up, a lot! If I'm in the neighborhood, I loe going for a stroll, but If I'm leaving the house for a real "beach experience," I'd go to Huntington.

Cedar Point Beach is well regarded, but it's in Sandusky, and Geneva-on-the-Lake can be fun too, if you like the grungy, kitchy, 1950s vibe. Everyone has to go there at least once in their lifetime.
