Default Solon school district

We might get transfered up to Mayfield Heights for OH work. I have 3 young children. The oldest just finished KG here in Texas and child #2 due to start KG next year.
So far we are interested in the Solon area and I am trying to find out what by what date your child must be 5 to start KG in the Solon school district. Here in Texas you must be 5 on September 1st to start KG. My son's birthday is Sept 9 which makes him one of the olderst in his class. I have read that in Shaker Heights school district you must be 5 on September 30 to start school. Their KG is full day. What is the KG program in Solon half or full day.
What website is good to look on for rentals in Solon as we first want to rent as we dont know anything about Solon and dont want to rush into anything. I have googled rental in Solon but can hardly find any homes to rent.
I also would like to know what neighborhoods are child and family friendly and what elementary schools you all like.
Looking forward to your responses as career wise it will be a very good move for my OH but are worried about kids education. We wont be able to afford private school and will need to find a good public school.

There are a number of awesome school districts in the Cleveland area. Private is not always best.

From what I can gather from my job search (I'm a school counselor), Solon has excellent ratings as does Shaker Heights. Might also check into Beachwood, Orange, and Chagrin Falls if you are thinking of living on the east side. A couple excellent schools on the west side are Lakewood, Rocky River, Bay Village, and Westlake. North Olmsted is also a great district.

Good luck! We made the move from Missouri knowing no one and have really lucked out. Our new neighbors are awesome! (We live in Westpark/Kamm's Corners which is on the west side.) I'm sure you will be able to find a school that will suit your needs.

Mayfield has an excellent school district. And if you don't want to live in Mayfield Hts., you can live in Gates Mills or Highland Hts., and still go to Mayfield Schools.

Solon is rated as one of the top (if not the top) school systems in Ohio and is actually one of the top 100 in the nation.

Thanks for all your responses.
I am struggling to find out what the cut off date is for a child to start KG in Solon school district. On the Ohio Education website it says a child must be 5 between aug 1 -Sept 15 it depends on the individual school district. Shaker Heights says a child must be 5 on Sept 30 which means my child who just finished KG here in Texas will have to start 2nd Grade in the new school year. I have read the Solon school district website top to bottom but doesnt mention anything about this ut off date. Can anyone please help. Unfortunately all the schools are closed now for the summer holiday so I cant phone any of the schools.

Try looking up the district office numbers on the websites. The Board of Education is there through the summer.
