Does anyone have experiences living in Russell Township or Newbury? I'm looking for houses out in this area but there isn't a whole lot of information online. Any positives or negatives of these areas would be great!

Because they are dinky little rural towns. That's why there isn't much info.

I tease, but it is true. Small quaint little towns where almost everyone knows everyone else. Very safe.
Not my cup of tea, but I know no one here would say: "OMG WHAT A DUMP STAY AWAY".

In my opinion, Russell is almost an exurb--it seems a bit more developed and less rural than Newbury. They are both very quiet, pretty areas.

Apparently if you're from Newbury and you ride a packed Rapid you may DIE!!! Especially if the train STOPS IN A TUNNEL!

Sorry I couldn't resist.

FWIW, Russell had the 28th highest per capita income in the state. That isn't amazing, but it isn't the hicktown that some of you are depicting it as. It's near some of the highest income areas in the state(Gates Mills, Hunting Valley, etc).

Newbury, on the other hand, is indeed a hicktown. There's actually separate parking for the Amish buggies at many of the local stores(or at least there used to be).
Scratch that, I might be thinking of Middlefield. Ah, who the hell cares anyway. It's all the same.

There's actually been quite of a bit of McMansion-esque development sprouting up in western Geauga county over the past, oh I don't know, 20 years or so. Some of you need to spend some time east of the Cuyahoga more often. Either that, or venture outside city limits sometime.

I agree. Russell, as I said, is more developed and exurban than Newbury. Same with Bainbridge.

Still a 'dinky little rural town' to me. Nothing in my description means "poor and redneck".
