Your use of that word appears to be incompetent/a projection.
Race = Common Descent.
Bigotry = Stubbornly clinging to an idea, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
Racism = Bigotry, in regards to Race.
Progressive Views on Race appear to be: Totally Wrong!
Therefore, "Progressive" views on Race appear to be: "Racist."

i love a racist who accuses others of it. so quaint, and yet so utterly ignorant.
oh, and to enlighten you (i know i shouldn't be so hopeful, but so be it), i am of mixed race (and because of my closed adoption, not necessarily sure of the "mix"), so i take the view not to hate anyone based on race, nationality, sex (any of the silly things that should not define us in the eyes of fellow human beings). i'm an equal opportunity hater of shallow, stupid people however!
feel free, though, to continue to hold onto your hate-filled, narcisstic, isolationist point-of-view. it was amusing, but it grows tired. this thread was about saving Cleveland, i thought, not trying to tear it asunder more.

I wouldn't call Cleveland a dying city, but it is definitely struggling, economically, as are most parts of the country. I had moved away for a number of years and when I returned, I was pleasantly surprised that the downtown has actually gotten better, in most regards. It's certainly an affordable area, and has good restaurants with many diverse neighborhoods. Something for everyone, really.

I am happy o see something balanced about Cleveland. Hopefully Cleveland will keep making some improvements. I just hope the current economic conditions don't hold this back.

Race = Common Descent = Families!!!! So, saying that race doesn't matter = saying that families don't matter! Families do matter; they are the simplest building block of CIVILIZATION. Hence, attacking race = attacking CIVILIZATION!
Only a "neanderthal" would want to tear down CIVILIZATION! So, when you talk about being "filled" with hatred, ignorance and narcissism, you are talking about yourself.

Wrong. The opening post asked the question, "Does anyone have an opinion on what is happening with neighborhoods such as Shaker Heights, University Heights, and Cleveland Heights? There are tons of homes on the market and the prices are going down. I realize the whole mortgage debacle doesn't help the situation and the economy is in bad shape, but is there more going on here, i.e. are these areas permanently losing population? Are they dying cities?"
The answer is yes. Although, the main reason for this is the same reason the entire Great Lakes Region is dying: Free Trade Fanaticism. There's nothing wrong with Trade and there's nothing wrong with it being "free" of barriers, like tariffs. However, if a fanatical adherence to the idea of a total lack of boundaries in trade leads to mass destruction of industries and devastation of entire regions of the country, then it seems logical to conclude that these ideas need to be moderated.

I wonder how the housing market in Cleveland is now. I figure now this is a buyers market.

Even Columbus?(no joke intended)
I figured most of Ohio might be a buyers market. At this point, I keep thinking that if people can find good houses for very low prices, this could jumpstart Cleveland, Dayton, the Mahoning Valley, Toledo,etc. It is a question of, "Will anyone buy?" If people buy and start spending money again, then the economy could go back up again.
