I didn't say it is chaos to punish a person if they commit a crime.

Then what did you say was chaos? It is chaos when people committ crimes. If any person of any race wants to move to any area where there isn't chaos where they can live peacefully, doesn't that person have that right?

Default Lets break it down

Our Federal Government is enabling people to live wherever they want to. Sometimes that includes being able to pay for it and sometimes it doesn't.

What I think is creating chaos is our Federal Government enabling people to move wherever they want to, regardless of that area wanting them or not. I think our Federal Government should be enabling communities to protect themselves from "invasion," instead of enabling "invaders."

Default How big is Cleveland?

In some cities people actually live in the city. Cleveland isn't like that anymore. So, it's what you call a "small town," because not many people live in it. Of course, that is relative. I mean, in 1776 it would have been a huge population; probably the biggest city on Earth. However in 2008, it's a blip. Still, if you are from a small Italian village on the coast and you don't get out much or have a t.v., Cleveland might seem pretty large to you, even overwhelming. However, if you watched Cleveland decline, then it seems a whole lot smaller than it used to be, because it is. Even if you think a lot of the people who used to live there still "exist." They aren't actually doing it in Cleveland anymore. You know, they've moved on. They've built things in other places and they are investing in those places, not Cleveland. Furthermore, this trend continues. Cleveland is still shrinking. Some day, it may be wiped off the map. However, it still gets lots of money from The Federal Government, The State of Ohio, Cuyahoga County and people who commute to it from other towns. In other words, Cleveland gets a lot of handouts. Will that last? Can it? Of course not.

Went to a graduation party. Family had a lot of friends with kids who had gone to private high schools, finished college and were going on to well paying jobs. None of these kids were staying in Cleveland. It has nothing to do with the area; their families and friends are here; they are chasing the jobs.

Another family buried the grandparents. They started out in Cleveland. Their furniture was manufactured in Cleveland! Most of the things in their house were made right here. They loved their home in C-Town! They loved the neighborhood. But, it was ethnically cleansed. So, they had to go. They cried, they were mad, they felt guilty and terribly ashamed, but they did it. It was their faith in God that carried them through it, to the burbs where they made a new life and invested in a new neighborhood and town, praying that this one would not betray them like the last one had.

I'm proud of this lady because she took the time to respond to the negitive posters here and would also like to add that I too hold a Section 8 voucher and am appaulled at the others here that are attacking a program that helps to keep people from living on the streets. Also I'd like to add that the renters living in the Section 8 housing do take care of the property as well as any other kind of renters do. I've seen people without vouchers tear up property just like some people with vouchers. Also landlords own these homes, and tend not to keep up rental property as well as if they themselves were living in them. If you really want to blame someone, blame the people who have negitive attitudes and are racist for the downturn of area's like Cleveland and it's suburbs. If it wasn't for Bush and his distracting war, many of us common people wouldn't be losing our houses, and we would all have more money to fuel a better economy, thus leading to more positive attitudes of bloggers. One day we will evolve into a society of people that actually care about ourselves and each other.

Thumbs up Personal Responsibility

The Subprime Mortgage "crisis" was caused by foolish lenders and foolish borrowers. Most of the people who are defaulting on those loans, shouldn't of had them in the first place! Although, I may not support the Neo-Con dream of Middle East domination, I do not blame it for the Subprime Mortgage Catastrophe. I blame that on the Greed of the lenders and the Envy of the borrowers.

Furthermore, this pattern of greedy lending and envious borrowing, has contributed to The Decline of The Dollar. Which just goes to show, how extremely selfish and self-centered greed and envy are.

I didn't have a sub prime loan at all. I had conventional 5.75% loan over 30 years, with 15% down.

Then my wife just dissapeared over night, leaving me with a mortagage I couldn't afford, and $10,000 in credit card debt.

I had no choice but to file chapter 7. I tried like hell to sell my house, but had no takers. And I owed quite a bit less than it appraised for.

Not everyone is or was a greedy borrower.

This housing market sucks.

If your wife hadn't (apparently) abandoned you, then you could have waited for the market to rebound. While I don't like the idea of pricing folks out of middle class housing; I don't blame the housing bubble for wayward wives or kidnapping.

Default Section 8 holders TURN on yourselves!

No one can say Section 8 renters take care of property as well any other kind of renters and that Section 8 landlords don't maintain their homes. There may be some in each category. Some may be good tenants and some landlords may say there isn't much incentive to fix something just to have it trashed. The problem lies with the accountability of these renters.

Speaking from experience, the Section 8 renters I have had wanted to live in the Heights to improve their quality of life. They were not equipped to handle living on their own, living in a suburban surrounding or taking care of others property.

They were single mothers that did take advantage of the system: Food Stamps, WIC, Section 8, Child Care Vouchers, Heating Assistance and more. With others subsidizing most of their life you would expect they would care for their apartment, abide by their lease and follow CMHA's rules in order not to jeopardize their income. Many of these people only know how to live in the system and have been in the system since birth. Some even span multiple generations. They now have a sense of entitlement.

When I called CMHA looking for an intermediary after rent became late and boyfriends moved in, I was told my only recourse was eviction. When I started eviction, CMHA called to talk me out of it and offered to pay back rent. I received a judgment for payment from the court but I am unable to collect. The court says they can't enforce the judgment and there is no other recourse but they will have to pay in order to clean up their credit before buying a house. I even found out one of these tenants had been evicted previously.

These may be isolated cases and all people on Section 8 are definately not abusing the system but there is definately no downside for tenants who do game the system. If you are on Section 8 and want to be upset with someone, you should start with these abusers and CMHA itself. Get them to stop the abuse and teach these people how to live in neighborhoods instead of bringing their hood mentality with them. I have spent thousands updating my home and now NO section 8 is accepted! It is better empty than destroyed. I'm sure some will now want to cry racism. In case you didn't notice I never mentioned the color of any one's skin, mine or theirs, that has nothing to do with anything. Hood mentality comes in all colors.

By the way, your tax dollars are still paying all of their bills and CMHA still hasn't told their new landlords of the multiple previous evictions.
