Fine, if you want to live in a sterile McMansion with a couple of sticks called trees, in a gated community (protecting you from your "phobias"), down the traffic choked road from the strip center containing an Applebees and a WalMart, go for it. Here, here! Does not matter which forum you go into, there are ALWAYS those people. It hurts me most to hear people bash my Cleveland, though!

Why is it that so many of our own people in the Cleveland area are so quick to badmouth the town. I have traveled a lot and the so called "wonderful" cities around are not great but their people don't badmouth them.

You people that put the city down and then wonder why the industry doesn't move here amaze me. As my son says the only way you could be dumber is to be twins.

To those of you looking for a reasonable priced place to live that has good people that will help you and good schools, come see us. Don't listen to the ill informed.

Speaking as someone whose work took him to California a long time ago, I still consider Cleveland a wonderful place to grow up and raise a family in. Yes, things have changed over the past 20 years, but my parents still live in Cleveland and I go back frequently. The school systems may vary a bit, but most are better than Los Angeles Unified (I can't speak for Colorado, I've never lived there).

But many of the suburbs are still very nice and quite safe. In fact, parts of Cleveland Heights have gentrified and are actually nicer now than they were in the '70s. University Heights is still pretty good, so are parts of South Euclid. Lyndhurst, Beachwood, Pepper Pike, Highland Heights, Mayfield Village----these are all areas that are still fine places to raise a family.

It's true I have much better weather out here than Cleveland, but I really do miss an awful lot about Cleveland. I always defend it to my naysayer friends here. It's still a darn good city!

Congratulations, in an attempt to "get back" at the people who offended you for their ignorance... you continue the trend with your hasty generalizations! You're "description" of the suburbs is relatively false. Well, go on with your rant because your bickering makes you look even worse.

Highland Heights is a nice area on the East side by the way . . . so is Mayfield Village. Very nice. Lower taxes than Cleveland Hts. and Shaker.

Thought I would put my two cents in--- Check out Mayfield Hts and Lyndhurst. Lyndhurst is only about 20-30 minute commute to CC. Mayfield is at max 10 more minutes. Both are good. I grew up in Lyndhurst and would still be there if my husbands job had not moved. Both schools are good - Its what you put into it, is what you get out of it. Taxes are higher but the people are great... Everyone is down to earth and very welcoming of new neighbors!!! Best of Luck

Be prepared to answer the question "You came to Cleveland from Colorado why?". I got that a lot when I was there.

For more urban try the University Heights area near Case Western Reserve Univ. My brother, wife and kids lived in a family neighborhood near Case. They liked being near the museums and in an urban environment. The kids excelled in the elementary school. Probably would do private for middle school and beyond. They are temporarily in another state for his post-doc work and can't wait to get back to Cleveland.

Also have family in Chagrin Falls, Solon, and Lakewood and are all happy where they are.

Cleveland isn't all that bad. Great metro park system.

To the people who are moving to Cleveland from Colorado,it will probably take some time for you to get use to Cleveland. But you may eventually end up liking it.Im from Cleveland and moved to Colorado, and it took me along time to get use to it.But now I enjoy living in Colorado,in fact I like it as much as Cleveland.Even a few months ago I still leaned more towards Cleveland, but now I lean towards Colorado.Ohio and Colorado are very different places. There isn't that many things that are similar between the two,if any at all.So when you move to one from the other,it probably will take time to get use to.
