And there's a very nice housing stock that's probably really cheap now.

That said, it certainly hasn't made it yet, and improvement can be pretty slow in this town.
Tell me more about this area please.

I have decided not to pursue that home buying opportunity. Is there any reason at all to reconsider this decision? I have to let her know by Wednesday (day after tomorrow) AM.

No, I think you made a good decision.

Essentiallly, it's two blocks north of the CWRU campus, and yet it's fairly poor right now. There's a lot of new housing near campus, which might generate interest in this area too.

I do think the area will improve - the question is whether it will take 2 years or 20 years.

Thank averysgore. I will look for other home investment opportunities in Cleveland. Tremont is interesting.

Yes, they're poor, and yes, many of the houses are abandoned/deteriorating, but the people in those neighborhoods, especially on the East side, look out for each other, and most of the people are actually a lot nicer than a lot of rich people I know living out in the suburbs. Sure there are some bad apples, and you have to be careful about locking your car, and walking alone at night, but it's not a war zone, and it's not Haiti.
God I could kiss you! You are absoluetly right. My Aunt Lives on Parmelee and I lived on Empire Ave for years. Both of our streets were quiet and well maintained. Are there some bad areas? Of course but people act as if bullets are constantly flying around and that is so far from the truth. Another huge misconception is the East side is worse than the the West side. They both thave their poor and not so pleasant areas.

I actually live around the corner from this area and i was gonna post that the east end of wade park off of 105 is actually considered by most to be a small suburb because of the large expensive housing and constant police patrol, but then i saw the haiti comment. thats actually an area where people like councilman, lawyers, drs, etc live. Its hard for the people to change the area when the people of the area are to poor to pay their rent, and since the people that can pay the whole street rent wont even move to the city, businesses cant make the money they need thus having to close down. Hence so many abandoned buildings. But nonetheless, the university circle area is a nice area that is growing very quickly as you can see on euclid and mayfield all of the new stores/buildings and renovations being made.
