Any recommendations for unique event venues in or around Downtown Cleveland? I attended an event hosted by Dredgers Union on E.4th (before they closed last year) and was wondering what others locations might be out there. Any details on rates?

My wife and I were married at the Western Reserve Historical Society. We did the courtyard, but I seem to recall they also have other rooms/areas available.

Botanical garden probably also rents out space, but it's going to be a lot more expensive.

What type of event are we talking...I preume a bit smaller (i.e. Drudgers Union). A couple good ones:

- Key Lobby requires a $500 payment and is unique
- E.9th Huntington Bank building lobby or rooftop (Sammy's?)

Maybe the old "Fortress" space on W.9th if you negociate (currently "For Rent")

Also, agreed that University Circle area has some very unique spots.

The old City Hall building is one of the best downtown. Really cool place. Friend got married there and had a reception.

I hope this wasn't done during business hours. City hall should be a place of business to get things done, to do the hard work necessary to make Cleveland a functional place, not to hold events or parties. I'm not trying to be a downer, it's just that when I was at city hall a few weeks ago, there was a big party in the lobby area, and the noise carried all throughout the building, and was very distracting and disruptive. It just added emphasis to how disfunctional the city already is. Sure, it's a beautiful building, but so is the Capitol, or the Downtown Library and you don't see people getting married there.

Have you been to many weddings that were during the work week??
It was a Saturday, of course. I thought it was a great idea when the mayor announced they would start renting that space. And the wedding was SO gorgeous and well done.
