I'm certainly no expert on Cleveland, so I guess I could be off. But, I was under the impression that E. 4th street would be where you find this sort of thing.

I thought it had restaurants in the mix? Or, maybe it's just for the more adult crowd, which made me think this way?

Stick withChicago baby. ALL the way! there is no-one on the streets of downtown cleveland at night its a frickin ghost town, Chicago always is energetic and full of people on streets at night,, i have been and spent time in both but over 35 yrs in cleveland.. people are nicer in Chicago definitely and you will NEED a car in Cleveland, trust me! I have been without a car many times and unless you like bratty loud kids spewing profanity and talkin about their friends getting arested and how many guns they have, DONT get on a Cleveland bus! Rode the bus into downtown for college and work everyday and i kid you not, heard these topics of conversation daily! it was laughable already.Chicago is much more expensive because you get what you pay for!

Yeah exactly. And to add to what you were saying, there are a ton of churches in the Cleveland area that are closing down because there is less and less people going to them. Around Lorain and Elyria I know they are closing at least 8 more within the next year.

Selected metro population (MSA’s) estimates as of 7/1/2007:
Chicago 9.5 million
MSA’s between 1.5million and 3.0million:
San Diego 3.0m
St. Louis 2.8m
Tampa 2.7m
Baltimore 2.7m
Denver 2.5m
Pittsburgh 2.4m
Portland 2.2m
Cincinnati 2.1m
Cleveland 2.1m
Sacramento 2.1m
Orlando 2.0m
San Antonio 2.0m
Kansas City 2.0m
Las Vegas 1.8m
San Jose 1.8m
Columbus 1.8m
Indianapolis 1.7m
Virginia Beach 1.7m
Charlotte 1.7m
Providence 1.6m
Austin 1.6m
Milwaukee 1.5m
Nashville 1.5m
Two things stick out for me in this data:
1. Chicago vs. Cleveland is really an apples and oranges comparison. If you love city living and couldn’t care less about the hassles of city life, Chicago is for you. If you are fine with sacrificing some big city amenities in exchange for a more comfortably sized city, check out Cleveland.
2. I have visited most of the metros between 1.5m and 3.0m, and in my personal opinion Cleveland’s downtown would rank on the higher end of the list (but certainly not the highest since I’m partial to the Gaslamp District in San Diego ).
