Final note to prof: dont pick on me! dolly will not be back in this forum so say what you like, she wont be reading it so your time will be wasted,, See what the person below had to say after coming back in another forum.. amen, amen. I noticed it immediately and never should have got off the train . The following is from another post you can find here under 'cleveland' forums by ANOTHER author:
could not believe how economically depressed Cleveland has become. It is not the home I knew.
Just wanted some feedback if anyone has come back after a long time and how it is for them.
Thanks.

dollycool, what is it that you have against Cleveland? There are ways to tell the truth about places and state your opinion without completely bashing them like you have. We all realize the city of Cleveland is not at its prime and is nowhere near its prime, but there are TONS of things going on and new things coming to the city. We are doing much better than a lot of areas across the country. I have lived in the Cleveland area most my life and have lived and visited areas all over the country, so yes I know what I am talking about.
Back on topic, its what I said before as I have stated a few times in this thread. It all depends on what you want, but I feel that the majority of people will be happy in either area if they chose the right place.

IMO, Trolls are a good example of people that really need to get a life.
Now, we need to get back on topic.

Dollycool,
aside from the excellent Cleve pro sports broadcasts, WTAM is a toilet; a waste of 50K watts of airspace, and Mike Trivisonno is the No. 1 Cleveland troll of the airwaves, so quoting him/WTAM doesn't advance your argument... I'm sorry you want to turn tail and run, I'd love to debate your points. I just think you're wrong; nothing personal b/c, obviously, I don't know you. (btw: when did Free Times go toes up? I visited Cle over Labor Day and noticed all their boxes were empty; not even a week old NP... so THAT'S it... Too bad, I liked FT better than Scene, which seems to only to make points by being totally negative on Cleveland... oh well).

dead end
Reading all these posts, what i'm coming away with is that most of those who live in Cleveland are partial to it and are most of the people responding. I'm from chicago, but disclaimed that in my first post. I've lived in the cleveland area now for about 7 years. I've lived in several cities in CA (Bay area and San Diego area), San Antonio, Tamp Bay area, New York City, Boston area, Fargo, ND, Cincinnati, Birmingham, Memphis, etc. I've tried to be honest in all my posts and unbiased. Really, I don't even think anyone that has been to Chicago disagrees with anything I've said, except that if they are biased toward Cleveland they will make excuses for why it is so much worse of a life experience to live there compared to the "incomparably great" city of Chicago. To that I responded with my "no excuses" post. The point is, ok: if you've been abroad (outside of other rural mid-westerern and bible-belt cities), you know cleveland sucks as a place to live, in comparison - if you haven't, but have been stuck in cleveland or other cites like it all your life, take my advice and get out and experience what this great country has to offer. Fear not leaving behind all you know. At least try for a little while a Chicago or San Francisco or San Diego, Boston, etc.. You will not be sorry.

alexmarison,
your post is unnecessarily argumentative because you set out a black-n-white false premise to advance your argument: Cleveland sucks as a place to live and those who disagree with this are partial, local-yokels who know of nothing outside their own limited Cleveland-world... Garbage. I live just outside NYC and love it. I've lived in Chicago, too, and loved it there, too. To say Cleveland is comparable, excitement or entertainment-wise to these cities, and some other sterling ones would be foolish. Obviously, it's not. But to say Cleveland sucks really points to your anti-Cleveland bias, not ours who stick up for it against unfair shots like yours. Cleveland's not perfect, but as mid-sized cities go, it's a very good place to live. Downtown's not always buzzing with excitement, but it's getting stronger, and stronger as a place that at least has a pulse and a buzz 7 days a week; and of course, Friday and Saturday nights are pretty electric -- I've had my New York friends who are surprised and impressed by this...
Add to this the fact that, in Cleve's metro area, you can find as diverse and beautiful areas (both in terms of natural settings and quality architecture) as in cities much larger: like NYC, Chicago and other places; and they are dirt cheap. And there are plenty of neighborhoods in the City and inner-ring suburbs (like Cleve Hts and Lakewood) that are exciting with tons of brownstones and busy walking districts...
So no, your premise is bogus as you set up a false premise.
