cuyahoga falls
Hello,
Actually we live in Cuyahoga falls, which is about 30 min south of Cleveland. Its a suburb, very nice location, close to all freeways, not from from cleveland, or akron or even canton. Shopping is close by and so are a lot of parks/metro parks, and entertainment. We are actually moving to AZ in Jan, and trying to sell/rent our house..its a 3 bed 1 bath with a finsihed room and shower in the basement, 2.5 car garage and fenced back yard. Its priced to sell fast as my husband just got the job offer to AZ last week..119,000. its approx. 1100 sq feet. Let me know if you might be intersted in seeing pics or finding out more info.
thanks

I moved to Ohio from California and had a heck of a time finding a Vet I was comfortable with. I finally found a Vet that I really like and trust. Her name is Nan Decker from Wellness Path Holistic Vet. She is located in Northfield on Old 8 road. She treats my dogs well and doesnt try to sell me a ton of crap I dont need.

It's kind of funny how people talk about the crime rates in Cleveland. First of all yes it's not the greatest but did ANYONE look at the Metro Areas. Cleveland was ranked then 140th most dangerous city, while COLUMBUS was the 60th most dangerous metro area.
People think Chicago is safe yet in 03' it had 599 murders and was named AMERICA's MURDER CAPITAL!!!!! Who has been to Chicago and actually felt scared? Not me and I don't ever feel scared in Cleveland. People like to exaggerate things. Also all other crimes in Cleveland has decreased significantly.

I'll give you some information on Cleveland in the next couple days, when I have more time. If you can afford it buying a condo in downtown will be the best bet and investment. Downtown continues to have the fastest growing downtown population in the Midwest and they can't build condos fast enough. The condo prices continue to rise along with property values in the Downtown area. The office market for class A offices are also at full capacity sparking many new developments, over 5.5 Billion dollars in current development with many more to come which will surely increase the property values even more.

USATODAY.com - Chicago topped nation in homicides in 2003

Chicago also has how many people compared to Cleveland? They had nearly 3 million in 2003 where Cleveland had around $450,000. About SIX TIMES the size. Per capita, having 132 murders last year is worse than Chicago having 599. And no, I've never felt unsafe in Chicago and I relatively feel safe in Cleveland. But I have been in places here where it is a relatively unsafe situation. It is also dependent on ones lifestyle, if you don't roam the streets at night, buy drugs, etc you are more than likely going to avoid MOST crimes and less likely be a victim.

Good post, but Chicago being a larger city should have a lot of these problems under control, but they don't do the best job at it. I have been to parts of Chicago that I have never seen before besides parts of Detroit, minus the fact that the parts of Detroit were just abandoned houses used for drugs.

I felt way safer in Chicago than I do in Cleveland, and I grew up right around Cleveland. Most of it has to do with the fact that Chicago is much larger and has nicer areas in the city and its more of a tourist place than Cleveland is. You cant really compare Clevelands crime rate and Chicagos, Clevelands is much much higher. But you also have to consider that Chicago is much larger so its supposed to have a lower crime rate. Chicagos homicide count has been decreasing for years now while Clevelands is increasing a lot over the last 4 years, also the crime rate in Chicago is way down since 1999.

Chicago being a city of almost 3 million though, should be doing a much better job of controlling some of the areas that I went to. I had never seen urban decay like this except in Detroit.

I agree that a city that big should be able to control the crime better, but is is much better than it was just a couple years ago. As far as urban decay Chicago isnt that bad anymore so I dont know what areas you went to but most of Chicago looks much better than it did just 5 or 6 years ago, especially since a lot of the neighborhoods have been rebuilt and lots of project knocked down and replaced with nicer housing. I hear that some areas on the westside and southside are still bad but most of Chicago isnt that bad anymore. I would say that as a city as a whole Cleveland is much more decayed than Chicago is.

I don't know where Clevelandrocks got their info about Columbus metro being more dangerous than Clevelands. Compared to Cleveland, Columbus is not that bad. However the cities are quite different. There seems to be more rental units in the general area, and unlike Cleveland where it goes from bad to ok to good, in Columbus it can vary from Very Good to very Bad, like in the case of Bexley where it goes from very rich to the worst part of Columbus. I still highly doubt that their metro area is more dangerous than ours.
