Short North, High Street and a few other areas you mentioned are all decent.
Where are you getting your information? You seriously MUST read and insure your facts are correct. You cannot randomly be pointing areas out as unsafe when you are CLUELESS factually. For example, the Short-North is one of the most expensive and safest areas in Columbus, OH. Please do your homework before putting rubbish in print.

Cleveland is slightly better than Detroit and NOT anything like Minneapolis!
Sorry to disappoint you, Cleveland and Minneapolis do NOT have anything in common. Minneapolis is a VIBRANT and thriving city. Cleveland is DEAD! Cleaveland, OH is one of the worse cities I have ever had to work out of... and I am anxious to leave. Too many thugs and criminals everywhere. Downtown Cleveland, OH is depressing. HORRILBE! Detroit, St. Louis, and Cleveland are extremely similar. I would NOT recommend this place to any decent human being looking for a comfortable and safe place to live; absolutely NOT!!! A week ago two guys were leaving a bar and were shot ... for no reason. Then that nutcase went and shotup his entire family. Almost everyday one hears some type of siren. I had a pair of U$10.00 shoes sitting outside my locker at the gym because the locker was too small; they were stolen. You do the math!

So much entertainment, amazing restaurants, and clubs. The parks of Edgewater and Gordon are right on the lakefront. Great beaches and awesome views of the Cleveland skyline. Downtown Cleveland has been voted as one of the best downtowns in the nation according to MoneyMagazine. Downtown Cleveland is really booming lately. If you are looking into moving to downtown there are some really nice condo units going in. Cleveland's downtown population is really starting to boom. It has grown about 32% since 2003. Cleveland is a great metro and a great city.

TheKnow, I am sorry to see that you have created a username and revived an old thread just to bash on the city you apparently work in. I was going to try to ignore your harsh comments but I just could not help putting my two cents in. First of all, I assure you that you can safely assume that anyone who says anything positive about the city realizes the problems it has and the challenges it faces. I know everything that happens in Cleveland yet I refuse to give up on it. I agree with you that Minneapolis is way out of our league at this point but you are not being fair to the positive strides Cleveland has made with its downtown. Paintballer1708 essentially gave you facts and you answered back with your spiteful opinion. Downtown Cleveland has about 10,000 residents and hopefully the census will report more in 2010. East 4th St. is at 100% occupancy and the Warehouse District is thriving with young professionals. The Avenue District is coming along nicely and the Park Building in downtown Cleveland has only been on the market for a few months yet 16 of the 22 units are sold. And these units are around the 200,000-300,000 mark. Like I said I know Cleveland has many problems. Yet downtown residency growth is one of our bright spots. Another thing, it is unfair to compare Cleveland and Columbus. The city of Columbus in terms of land area is huge. Yet its entire region is significantly smaller. It would be like lumping Lakewood, Cleveland and Shaker Heights, and the rest of the inner-ring suburbs which would make Cleveland huge and dilute the crime. I hope you might be able to change your mind about Cleveland. We really need more positive people around here. I'm in Cleveland every day trying to do my part to make it a better place whether its spending my money at a unique and locally owned restaurant or bugging the councilmen to do better on a certain issue. I hope one day I will have a larger clout to influence the city. I don't see why you can't be realistic about the city's plight yet still be a factor in improving it. And maybe just maybe if more people like you can put aside their negative views and embrace the city you are a part of we can return Cleveland to a successful city down the road.
