Subway,
I didnt think that you were trying to fight back at all. I figured you were just trying send people in the right direction on a choice. Its really nice to hear your story on where you came from. I have heard of Harrison before. That area is also starting to grow. I hate to see it, but this all leads back to sprawl. Cincinnati seems to sprawl in every direction. Esp in these northern suburbs. But this is a nationwide thing these days. Cincinnati truly is a great area to be living in. That population growth on Warren County is crazy. In less than 20 years we will be looking at about half a million people living here. But this is a great area to be living in, and they control the sprawl very well down here. The natural scenery is really nice.
Once again, glad to hear your story, and look forward to seeing you more on the forum.

nikkiyc, If you go to this site: http://www.zillow.com/ , type in Cleveland, OH. It will show a map of the entire area. Click the scale one mark below the City Line. Within that map is the name of the areas/ suburbs, with average home values. That should give you a pretty good idea of where you can afford to live. BTW, you can click on the map and drag it East, West, and South, to see other towns and values. Hope that helps

So...
So, nikkiyc, have you been able to narrow down any specific places that have caught your interest? I know you started with just a few, but I'm sure you've gotten more ideas from everyone on here. Any new prospects???

a few other towns to consider
if you relocate the eastside of Cleveland, Willoughby, Wickliffe and Willowick are nice and should be in your price range for housing.

Honestly we have been so busy lately! We sold our house, took in a stray dog that we were trying to find a home for, etc., that I have hardly been on the computer!
Well HAS, everybody gave such great feedback. I think we'd like to start looking at the western suburbs, since that is the least snowiest area, from what everyone says. We'll go from there. But we're not excluding eastern areas, such as Painesville. Someone said to look into South Euclid, Lyndhurst, and University Heights also? I also want to look in to Parma and Maple Heights. I'm kinda all over the map, aren't I?!
I dont' know, there is so much going on right now, I'm so stressed! We have two 50-60 lb dogs that have never seen snow! They're actually from Hawaii. Poor things aren't going to know what's going on! So we have to find a place that will allow them also, if we are going to rent first. Our realtor is going to give us a name of a realtor in Cleveland that will be able to help us.
Well today is my and my husband's 5 year anniversary, so I'm just going to relax, go to dinner, see a movie, hopefully get my mind off everything for a few minutes! But that won't last too long! We're closing on our house Nov. 28, and we weren't leaving for Cleveland until January, so that's a whole other issue on where we're going to stay in the meantime. And my husband is suppose to have shoulder surgery (his 3rd one!) on Nov. 21. Plus we'll be going to get my stepdaughters (they live in Maryland) and bringing them down for Thanksgiving, the week before we close! Good grief, see why I'm stessed?!
Well sorry everyone, didn't mean to rant!

Thanks Smokey Katz, those are areas that haven't been mentioned to me before, so I'll look in to them as well.

Well happy anniversary, nikki. Dont worry things will slow down once you get closer to the move. When i headed to Cleveland from Pittsburgh i had no idea where i wanted to move to. Cleveland has so many great areas to live in. I would consider the western suburbs first. But my favorite areas are in the SE suburbs, around the Cuyahoga Nat'l Park. Brecksville, Solon, Seven Hills, Sagamore Hills, and Independence. But Westlake, Avon, Avon Lake, North Olmsted, Olmsted Falls, Bay Village, and Rocky River are all great western suburbs to check out. I would first check out the western suburbs. I lived in Westlake, and that was a great community.

Well...
Well, Happy Anniversary!
Sounds like you're pretty darn busy!
I'm glad everyone on here was a help. Good luck in your search. I'm sure that wherever you happen to choose, you will love it. Good luck with your husband's surgery, the dog that you're trying to find a home for, and everything else that seems to have you occupied as well.
OH, and the dogs will probably adjust quickly to the snow, so don't worry about them too much...and if it seems like they aren't getting their winter coats, you can always buy them some of those crazy dog sweaters!!

^ LOL yes your dogs should have no problem with the cold. They grow their winter coat, and lose it right around the beggining of April when its gets warmer. Thats how my chocolate lab's coat went. LOL you can get some crazy pictures too. I remember the one time we had a light snowfall, it got to about 3-4 inches of snow, and my dog was covered in it. We took a picture of him sitting on the steps of the deck. My dog actually had a good time playing in the snow. Wonder what he will do this year? SW Ohio doesnt really get much snow.
