I live in Pittsburgh, but am pondering a move to Cleveland. Where are some good areas to go boating? I prefer calm water (our three rivers are pretty placid). I haven't been in Lake Erie yet, so can't say how this compares. From looking at pictures, it appears as if Euclid Creek is totally contained...is that off limits to kayakers? Thanks, e

Lake Erie has placid days and stormy days. It can be very calm if the weather is right.

These guys have guided kayak tours of Lake Erie and the Cuyahoga river, a good place to start if you're new to the Lake.

Thanks for the info on 41 North; I'll try to check them out before the season is over. But how about other water in Cleveland? Any creeks that are in residential areas that are fun to poke around on? I'd like to live somewhere that I can walk my kayak to, and know that I cannot afford anywhere too close to the lake.

Well there is the Black River in Lorain County. The Cuyahoga in Cuyahoga County. You just need to know where the dams are.

You need this:
Canoeing and Kayaking Ohio's Streams: An Access Guide for Paddlers and Anglers by Richard Combs | 9780881502527 | Paperback | Barnes & Noble

I have it. It's excellent.

Don't forget the Grand River in Lake and Ashtabula County, and the Chagrin River.
