Thanks, the search is still on!!
Thank you everyone for helping me in my quest to find the right dwelling place!! I am still searching, the choices bing narrowed to older houses in lyndhurst/s. euclid and the new house in richmond heights. Mentor n wiloughby are very far and Univ/Clev/Shaker hts have huge taxes and very old houses.
The only incentive abt richmond hts is that I am geting brand new house by ryan builders at a price same as fr an old house in lyndhurst! Does anybody have any idea abt the quality of construction by Ryan homes n whether it would be safe fr my wife to travel alone late at night to richmond hts/lyndhurst/s.euclid.
Thanks a ton guys!! Appreciate it.

I know growning up every one thinks of that home that they want to build and thats great how ever have you thought about a historic home. Cleveland has some great old homes that are currently being renovated for purchase. The best thing about these homes are that they are solid. New homes have to settle and the materal that they are built of to day doesn't compare. Look at the University Circle and FairFax areas. Now some of these homes need alot of work but trsut me its well worth it.
My wife and I brought our dream hoome in 2004. Its a Tutor style home that was built in 1908. Its a total 6500 square foot home including a 900 square foot apartment on top of the garage. Although there aren't many in the area like ours there are others that are just as grand one just have to have a vision. The neighbor hood is in what was once concidered the gold cost in Cleveland. We are less then two1 mile from case and wo miles from everything in University circle. If a grand old house isn't what you are looking for how about a condo? I would advise any one moving to Cleveland and plan on staying at less a decade to invest into the downtown or University areas. With Cleveland Clinic, VA hospital and UH growing the way they are; these are going to be the best places in town to live.
If you live down town and work at either place you can catch a new train system up Eucild and be to work in less then 20 mins. These trains are designed to travel from down town to Windomere rapid station in under 20 mins. The whole street has been rebuilt to service the city. Its a great site to see! The train is scheduled to be in operation Feb. 2008 and The VA hospital is scheduled to open a new building that is goign to bring some 2000 employess into the city, which is scheduled for 2010.
I grow up in CLeveland all my life except for the years I spent in the military and I must say that the things that are goign on in this city to day is going to give a new identiy to this city. So, come and be apart of something new!

I think Richmond Heights is good community to live in given where you work. Especially, since you're looking to live in a subdivision with newer homes.
And also, your wife should not have any problems traveling alone in S. Euclid/Lyndhurst/Richmond hts. (Thats assuming that she is driving and not taking public transportation or walking)

Housing
Richmond Heights is a very difficult market to to sell a house in so when you go to sell you will probably loose money. I am a builder and Ryan homes is ok if it is in the right community. You can email me if you'd like and I can give you some suggestions Skodabuilding@aol.com

For good schools, low taxes, great services try Beachwood. About 25-30 min. from the Clinic. Stable property values, unlike other areas around Cleveland if you're concerned about resale value.

My husband has family that resides in Richmond Heights and I have been a few times. I certainly would not recommend it at all. Additionally, if you have or will have children I hear nothing but negative comments about the school system. I live in Rocky River and commute to beachwood everyday (about 45 minutes) and it is not a real problem so wherever you choose should really be fine. Pass on Richmond Heights. There are much nicer places in the area.

Richmond Heights is terrible! The black ruined it!It's basically a ghetto but a suburb! Schools arehorrible! All black! Houses are getting painted, purple, orange, indiglo blue! It's a joke how they ruined that city!Where the blacks go, the grass don't grow!Do not buy in Richmond Heights!

Keep looking
I would suggest Mayfield Hts, Highland Hts, Chagrin, Hunting Valley or Pepper Pike. These are not that much further, but much more suitable for your family.
Ask some of your contacts at the clinic and go see the towns before moving to them. In the long run, you will be much happier. Richmond Hts was nice 25 years ago. City has changed for the worse.
Peace
