You know you're from Cleveland if . . .
31. You know all 4 seasons: winter, still winter, almost winter and road construction.[/quote]
That IS absolutely hysterical. I moved to ATL in June but I'm still a Clevelander deep down inside and have copied this email and forwarded to family and friends back home. The last one was my favorite. Another popular joke is that Cleveland or Ohio only has two seasons: winter and orange barrel.

Fond memories
I have been scanning City-Data for information on New Mexico and came across the hillarious description of my old hometown - Cleveland. I lived in Cleveland, Painesville, Mentor-on-the-Lake and Willoughby over a period of
37 years. Cleveland does have a rather spotty reputation, but I prospered and had a wonderful life there. I am always proud to say that Cleveland is the home of : Case Western Reserve University, Fenn College-now Cleveland State, The Cleveland Symphony Orchestra, the amazing Cleveland Art Museum, Cleveland Clinic, good transportation system, etc. I am still amused when I think of "pink flamingoes, dress shoes with white socks, The "Flats" - horrible when I was there, the mayor setting his hair on fire, the filthy Cuyahoga River (they did an adequate job of clean-up when I was there) but it too was set on fire, my old alma mater Lake Erie College in Painesville, the amazing ethnic diversity, the Terminal Tower and so much more. I am now in beautiful Northern California and anticipating a move to New Mexico. I value my experience in good old Cuyahoga County. I met my husband there, had my child at Mt. Sinai hospital, enjoyed Euclid Beach (still there????) and all the good stuff that makes the mid-west what it is. It was part of the journey for me, and in spite of the horrible weather and humidity, I will always have a very soft spot in my heart for my old hometown. How could I forget Frankie Yankovic and the polka!!

^LOL i enjoyed the story, 633red. And yes, Euclid Beach is still there. If you ever get back you will be suprised by all the beaches that have sprouted up. Cleveland is really on the upswing, and i am very proud of the city, because it is working hard to get to where it is today.

Subway,
So sorry to hear about Euclid Beach. It was one of my very favorite places back in the "Polio scare days." I was forbidden to go into the pool, and it was closed to the public for a period. I have great memories of Euclid Beach and of course Cedar Point. Many fond childhood memories and much nostalgia from those favorite haunts. I never revisited the Cleveland area after I left in 1979. I would love to see the changes, but I'm afraid the old memories good and bad would come flooding in. Again, I feel great attachment to the area - gave me so much in my formative and adult years. Cleveland was being "blasted" back then, but I will always defend it and be thankful for what Cleveland did to create a very solid foundation in my life. I really miss the Midwestern genuine, friendly attitude - can't remember how many times my neighbors came to my snow-filled driveway and asked if they could help. Neighbors were really part of the family. My next adventure was in New England, and I never had the experience of neighbors pitching in and helping each other. Thank you Cleveland.

Lifelong Clevelander here.....getting ready to make the move south. Can't take the grey skies and winters anymore. Liked it though when I was younger.

I just took the plunge in June. I moved from Warrensville Hts to ATL and I absolutely love it. We are closer to my husband's family now. I serisouly think that the winter gets worse as you get older, even though it's mild all over the U.S. right now. It's supposed to be about 72 degrees today and the sun is shining. The average winter temps are in the 50s. Come on down.

Its hard to say good bye to a place where you have tried to put your heart into. However, I have lived in Cleveland over 15 yrs because --- FAMILY. (another Clevelander reason to stay and not leave) I have tried, tried and tried again (tri-c) to be happy and settle in this joke town... Now its time to wake up out of dooms town coma and realize that no matter how hard you try in joke town being a 33 yr old single male, sometimes you just have to throw in the towel. Good bye to you Cleveland, your miserable weather, your burning river of people, your nazi punk suburban wanna be cops, your lost cause for job opportunities, and most of all..... good bye to all of you mean, nasty, rude single Cleveland women cause you smell just like your city!!
