Default You know you're from Cleveland if...

(I received this as an e-mail and thought I would share.)

1. You don't really know any homosexuals, you just know that there are a lot of them in Lakewood.
2. You know you don't really have an accent, the rest of the world does.
3. You always hear there are famous people in town, but you've never seen one.
4. You hate country music, don't know anyone who likes country music, and yet...WGAR won music station of the year.
5. You find it hard to believe that someone as cool as Tom Hanks made his start here. But you brag about it anyway.
6. You take credit for Cedar Point even though it's over an hour away.
7. You honestly believe that Cleveland is the best city in the world.
8. You take Dead Man's Curve at 60 mph....holding your breath.
9. You know about the East side/West side rivalry, but don't really understand it.
10. Good Morning from the Buzzard Morning Zoo is a jingle you'll never forget.
11. Your neighborhood schools went without sports because all the senior citizens refused to pass the levies.
12. You actually know how to pronounce Cuyahoga.
13. You can't tell Brook Park, Brooklyn or Old Brooklyn apart.
14. You see Christmas lights up in July.
15. You find yourself singing "Garfield 1-2323, Garfield 1-2323" in the shower.
16. You're still dumbfounded by the leaping fountain in Tower City.
17. You've never ridden in a taxi.
18. You wear shorts the first day of the year it isn't below zero and snowing...just because you can.
19. You have no idea how exactly to get to the Flats, you just kind of end up on a bank and start partying.
20. You really don't know what the Warehouse District is, you just know that it's a great place to party.
21. You know who the Jake really is.
22. You hate Baltimore and you have never even been there.
23. St. Patty's Day is your #1 holiday, and you aren't Irish.
24. You're still relishing 1987 when the Browns ALMOST made it to the Super Bowl.
25. You counted down with the monument in Tower City to the exact second in 1999 when the Browns came back.
26. You hear Bill Clinton and Drew Carey love Parma Pierogies, but you have yet to eat there.
27. You know Tower City isn't a city at all.
28. You're Polish.
29. Stories of Little Italy still send chills down your spine.
30. At least half of your wardrobe is Tribe apparel.
31. You know all 4 seasons: winter, still winter, almost winter and road construction.

Default awesome....

Not only is your post funny, it is quite literal....my wife and I are searching for ways to leave this sh--hole once and for all...it depends on job, children, schools and otherwise to do it right, but once those things are ironed out...goodbye. I have had the fortune over my adult years to travel and see a few cities (states) other than right here and let me tell you - this place has got to be one of the most God forsaken places in America. From the weather to the people to the economy to the housing to the job market to the lack of culture (we have the Rock Hall and even the induction cerimonies don't come here to accept!).
Thanks for sharing that list....though it made me laugh, it actually embarrassed me a bit that I actual live here.

Subway, I didn't realize how funny this actually was until I read your post like this about Cincy. I kept reading this one (about Cleveland) and thinking, "Everyone knows that. It's not just us Clevelanders." But then I read the other one and didn't know what the heck half of the things were and realized that no one except us Clevelanders probably gets these ones either!

Oh how true! I left Lake County a couple years ago and just sold a home in Ashtabula County a few weeks ago. I have no desire to bring my family back there.

But I LOVE the post!!!!!

I Left Cleveland 3 years ago and moved to Central Florida and I miss Ohio. Most likely will be back sometime in Jan. The only thing i will miss here is the warm weather. Florida just does not feel like home.

If you miss Ohio but don't want to deal with the brutal winters of NE Ohio, Columbus or Cincy may be what you're looking for. They also have better economies than Cleveland. Just a thought.

Too funny! As soon as I started reading the "Garfield 1-2323", that tune just kept playing over and over in my head!

Default I love this!

This is hilarious and so true! Makes me terribly homesick too. I'm one of those weirdos that actually does think Cleveland is the best city around--cause it's home, I guess.

Default Memories

I moved from Chardon Ohio (and taught at Euclid High for 22 years) to North Port Florida 5 years ago. Your post brought back many fond memories, I even printed it out to share with my family. 3 of my 4 children have followed me down here, so Florida feels more like home than Ohio at this piont. I sure don't miss northern winters. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and the high will be in the 70's here.
