I think the Cleveland Scene is culling topics from city-data and upping the # to avoid suspicion.

Lol, they probably did. I have to say , it's a decent list and there's a place for some of the restaurants on there , but it does tend to lean towards the "fine dining" end of the spectrum , with perhaps about 5-6 exceptions.

Clearly , all of those places are pretty good, but there are many places that I would argue are equally good and more representative of diverse cultural/income groups in the city, that got left out, perhaps because they weren't quite as new as certain places (ie, Tremont and Ohio City, the trendy new spots to be really dominate the list . I'm not saying they aren't good, but the fact that Coventry or Little Italy were basically omitted, along with many other portions of the city, raises an eyebrow. Overall, many of these are good suggestions, but it's far from a comprehensive list IMO.

Just because a recipe or concept hasn't been invented in the last 10 years, doesn't make it bad.

Cleveland Scene's list is much better IMO than the PD's "Cleveland Classics" list which left off Sokolowski's in favor of the likes of Aldo's and Bistro 185, neither of which I particularly would describe as exceptional.

It's not uncommon for magazines to emphasize their advertisers, or potential advertisers. They live and die by their ad revenue.
