I don't care about shopping. I don't care about entertainment. I just want to settle in somewhere where i may have a small area to garden. I'd like friendly neighbors. I think that's about it. What ya got?
To make it simple just stay out of the city of Cleveland, East Cleveland, and maybe Euclid too. Also try to stay out of Lorain and some parts of Elyria. basically every other place is a nice area. The closer suburbs on the eastside are a lot more urban and have some problems but not many.

I forgot to add another bad area. The whole city of East Cleveland is really rough. It has a lot of big houses that probably used to be nice but are now mostly abandoned. The city has a poverty rate over 40% and is comparable to East St. Louis. The city also had 12 murders last year, which is horrible for a city of only 25,000 people, seeing that Toledo with 300,000 only had 12 murders.

Also Solon is not that bad for whoever said that. It might be the worst of the really nice suburbs in the Cleveland area but its not bad at all and is very safe.

Hi! We are new in town and are considering living in a house near the Fairmount-Lee intersections in Cleveland Heights. Lovely tree lined streets near Case Western.
I looked at something in Shaker Heights on the south side which had some rough neighborhood 3 blocks away. Did not see any of this at F & Lee within 4-7 blocks.
Any comments are welcome.

Smile try Oberlin, 25 min to Cleveland via 2 or 80

That is where I live and love it. No crime, friendly neighbors, it is a little mecca of the midwest. Concerts and plays and an art museum that is free.
