A good place to start would be cleveland.com, it also contains stories from the major local newspaper The Plain Dealer. That should give you a good overall view of the area.

Default Best Bets East Side and West

Cleveland has, and has always had a great music scene. You shouldn't be disappointed on that account. It's also an affordable city.

Here are my recommendations for where to live:

East Side - Cleveland Hts. (Cedar-Fairmount neighborhood) or University Circle

West Side - Ohio City (West 25th area) or Tremont

Check out Cleveland Free Times or Scene Magazine (I imagine both have websites. Do a Google search.) These local rags give great info on music, entertainment, restaurants, etc. and also have sections that list rental properties.

If I were you I'd stay in the city or the oldest inner-ring suburbs (Cleveland Hts. to the east, Lakewood to the west). There's more to do in and near the city, with a younger population. The further out you go, there's less to do, an older crowd, everything is less convenient.

Good luck!

I'd recommend Stonebridge. Currently there is Stonebridge Waterfront and Stonebridge Tower -- the tower is the nicer of the two. A two bedroom, two bath place runs between $900-1100. There are a lot of young people in the building, a lot of people from out of state, the building has nice amenities (including a fitness center), plus it is within walking distance of bars/nightlife.

E,

I would encourage you to post your question at UrbanOhio.com. There is a section just for relocation assistance, and lots of Clevelanders there to offer some more helpful suggestions. It's easy to register there. Here is the section:

http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php?board=20.0

Provide information like: where you will work; what kind of housing are you interested in; what sort of neighborhood amenities do you want; do you have a car or want to be close to transit; do you prefer suburban, urban or downtown; and so on. You might want to even mention what neighborhoods in New York City you like and we can provide a Cleveland equivalent. There are a number of former Clevelanders living in New York City and some former New Yorkers living in Cleveland that can provide that information.

Hope to see you on UrbanOhio!
