That is almost completely false. I spent half my childhood in that neighborhood and in Lorain and it was all people that grew up there committing the crimes.
I guess it doesnt matter that over 90% of the crime in Elyria, Cleveland, Columbus and most cities are from people who live there and probably grew up there. I guess that person that said the quote didnt notice that just a few years earlier there was a double homicide in projects in South Elyria where an Elyria man killed 2 guys from Detroit. But you get my point, they always try to blame people from other places and make the city look better, like "Nobody from our city would do this type of thing". Its annoying.

Sorry this is late, but your off on that. The southside is ran by Chicago. Wilkes is run by dudes from Chicago that have moved in. The dude that killed two people in Wilkes a couple of years ago wasn't from Elyria, he was originally from Chicago, even though he lived in Elyria at the time. The dude that killed the Gas USA clerk a couple of months ago, lived in Elyria, but he was also from Chicago. The killing by Gas USA 4-5 years ago, where the 16-year old was "going to by cookies" was set up by three people, two of them (the masterminds) were from Cleveland. The girl from Elyria met her co-Ds in Cleveland and that's how they all ended up on the southside.
I'm not saying everybody who was born and raised on the southside are innocent bystanders, but Chicago and Cleveland have a heavy influence in the drug trade, hence, killings in Elyria. If you don't know that, you obviously haven't been around the way.
I'm not saying that those born and raised on the southside are naive, good living citizens, but people from the bigger cities have brought a lot of the trouble into town.
But who knows how things would be if thugs from other cities didn't try to push their trade throughout the southside. Maybe it wouldn't be any different, and it would be strictly southsiders killling other southsiders for turf, but it isn't. Chicago, specifically, runs deep, especially in Wilkes. Most of them have been here for years, which makes them seem like they are from "Elyria," but to those who are born and raised on the southside know they are really "Chicagoans."

Yeah, you are actually right about most of that. Like I said I spent half my life on the southside, and most the rest in Central Lorain. All I was trying to say is that most people commiting the crimes dont just come here one day from a bigger city and do that, most are raised here most the time and do that, even if they are from a bigger city. I did notice that ALL of the thugs on the other sides of town especially the Northside and Eastside (the few thugs that there are over there) are from Cleveland, some Chicago.
South Elyria was heavily influenced by people from Cleveland and Chicago, also Detroit to some extent. Almost everyone I knew down there had roots and family in Cleveland or Chicago (including me). Elyria is a smaller city in the midwest so its to be expected that the ghettos are mostly run by people from larger cities in the area. I heard Wilkes was run by Cleveland though now, I remember them having gang graffiti over there with Cleveland all over it. I used to know all of this, but I got out of that life and try not to pay attention to it anymore.
TheCLE where are you from and how do you know all this stuff?

I'll just say that I'm from Cleveland, but my wife was born and raised on the southside. Her family is still all there and we're back down there every weekend. I won't say the street, but it's south of 15th. Here family has been there for 30 years and a lot of her family lives in Southpark, Wilkes and Ely Village, so we hear stuff. ... A lot that doesn't make the paper. That's where I'm gettin my info.

Then Im guessing you also know all about 9 Milly/MA-Zone, ABM, MOB, and Crips, not to mention all the others. And 40 Cal/LA Squad, Bloods on the westside. I still have friends who live on the southside that I visit regularly and some family down there. So yeah, I hear a lot of things that go on down there too and also a lot that doesnt make the paper.
