My mistake for not seeing the scroll bar on the Youngstwon map. Recently I reread an earlier article about the 6th, 7th or 9th murder and it mentioned that the people in the fire are included with the homicide totals report.

Is it really this quiet around Cleveland? I can't remember a quiet spell this long in a while. Last year it was every couple days. It's good if its true, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has heard anything. No coverups?

Im not buying it, but who knows?

I do remember a couple times in the past when some of the news and people just tried to stop reporting some of it. Of course if Cleveland really hadnt had a homicide in this long its a good thing, but its unlikely. I have family/friends in the city of Cleveland and have heard a few things but I dont know if their true. And Honestly I havent really been keeping track, havent been on much lately.

No, I don't know of any maps for Cincy which I believe is at 62 or 63 now. Usually the news will report a number but they got messed up at #58 and haven't recovered yet.

I've noticed more and more maps as the year continues and many are about homicides. A lot of these are Google types of maps so perhaps you would start one for Cincinnati next year? I plan on doing one for Pittsburgh.

Our news media has our numbers screwed up too and it might be because the cops say things like there are two murders from last year included in this year's count and we're going to be adding ten more in the future then go over them and sort some out before giving the FBI our final report. So a TV station reported 67, a newspaper reported 57 as did a radio station. They are all wrong. We are at 55. Our minority newspaper details all murders in a monthly summary. I also have an associate on another site who has resources I don't have to bother with.

Regardless of what numbers are turned in to the FBI, I will bet they will change many of them for larger cities making things not look so dire as they really are.

When the Columbus map was published it was linked to by an article claiming 86 murders yet the map only went to 83. 89 seems to be the right number of murders for them.

Its good that it hasn't been as bad as a year for crime in Cleveland. Its still sad that 83 people have had their lives taken from them though. But I don't think this will be a sign that crime is going to keep decreasing.Crime and murders tend to be up and down all the time.Plus not all crimes that could be considered assaults and robberies are reported. So its really hard to really tell how dangerous a city is just using a crime rate. You can kind of tell by it,but imagine if all crimes were reported how much higher most cities crime rates would be.

That hasn't been ruled a murder yet although it sure appears to be. Same with this one but the guy hasn't been charged as far as I know...

Are Cleveland police going undercover about reporting murders?

Richmond Va police don't report murders anymore. Instead they report finding a dead body and say the coroner will determine the cause of death. Then that's the last you hear about it.

Philly took their crime stats links down and just puts an arbitrary homicide number on their home page.

Camden stats haven't been changed since July when a new police chief took over.

Detroit police report nothing whatsoever this year.

Cleveland is doing so much better this year I'd think the police would be proud of that.
