18? Doubtful. I wouldn't count on cleveland.com as your resource. They seem pretty unreliable and only publish stories they feel worthy. If you check out other news sites from Cleveland, they usually have more crime listen than cleveland.com. Some idiots on that Cleveland.com thing you listed, talking about how the kid must be white since he's from Bay(Mosa Shafik is NOT white). Also states he can't have friends in the city LOL. Coming from the area, most people on the west side are frequently in Cleveland have friends/associates in that area. It's not uncommon at all.
Also unrelated but more westside stories:
Lakewood man dead after bar fight. And 3 arrested after police chase in Fairview and Rocky River. 21 crack rocks were found and 2 guns.

After the recent murders the Homicide count is officially 18. I heard that on 19 Action News.
I was actually surprised though, they said by this time last year we only had 23. I would have though it was closer to 35 seeing that we had 135 for the whole year last year. I guess the majority of the homicides happened in the warmer months. Also I thought crime was way down this year, turns out its pretty much all the same except the rape-rate is way up from last year (+59%). I guess the crime wasnt a 1 or 2 year thing. Now Im not expecting the city to change at all this year.

Wow, the rape-rate is up 59% from last year. That doesn't even suprise me. It's not even April yet we are off to a bad start with the crime/murder rate. I agree Cle440, I don't think this city is going to change this year.

Yeah, I thought that we were doing real good this year because I thought the homicide count was way down, but were only a little down. Also all the other crimes are about the same except for rape which is a lot higher than last year. It doesnt seem like Cleveland is going to change this year.

^^"Rape" statistics are generally inaccurate and random in their nature and should only be taken as general trends or for some idea. Many cases do not get reported and/or the reporting of it is sporadic.
On the bright side, at least the news isn't reporting every story like it seemed last year. That usually damages the general moral of people working everyday. Not to mention, crime is a little lower than last year (at least homicides).

^^^^ I heard about this story on the news yesterday, but I don't remember them mentioning the young man who survived. I feel bad for the 19 year old kid, he had a bright future ahead of him. He was a student at CSU.

Its kind of a sad situation. Instead of people feeling sorry for what happened the Police and other people are wondering why kids from Bay Village would be on the Westside of Cleveland anyways. They could have just been visiting friends. A lot of people are thinking that drugs were involved since noone in the area seems to know them and they have never been over there before. Anyways RIP to the kid that died. The other kid got shot but I think hes okay and he already got out of the hospital.

The fact still remains that they opened a window to someone in Cleveland at night. Its a pity that it happened, but let it serve a lesson to other of the "bubble" suburbia kids who think that they can walk into Cleveland and act like they're all that(not saying that these kids did that, b/c I don't know). This is the reason why Cleveland Cops, and the State Park Cops tell these suburb kids to stay in their city, cause they'll get eaten alive down there.
