Hmmmm...when I just clicked on the link, it took me to a different story. But this one was about Shaker, and it wasn't very favorable either:

Quote:
A Suburb Looks Nervously at Its Urban Neighbor

Cleveland has grown steadily poorer over the last five decades. Many people in the surrounding area believe that Shaker Heights will eventually be overwhelmed by Cleveland residents, many of them African-Americans, trying to escape the city’s high crime rate and struggling schools. They wonder why residents of Shaker Heights have not moved to more distant — and safer — suburbs..."I wonder how much ‘tolerance’ the ‘progressive,’ snooty, pseudo-intellectual limousine liberal, socialists of Shaker Heights will show now that the thugs are in their neighborhood too,” a reader wrote on a Cleveland Plain Dealer blog.

French reporter's faux pas rattles Shaker

Posted by Michael K. McIntyre January 29, 2008 15:11PM
Categories: Top Story
A reporter from Agence France-Presse, the world's oldest established news agency, visited Northeast Ohio recently to report on the devastation wrought by the subprime lending crisis.

The story was rich in detail: "The streets are empty. Trash rustles down the road past rusted barbecues, abandoned furniture, sagging homes and gardens turned to weed.

This is Shaker Heights."

I wonder if Shaker Hts will sue? At the very least, Agence will can this yayhoo.

I saw that story filed by AFP (Agence France Presse) which mentioned "Eagle's supermarket" (where is that apparition?) and "Chagrin Street" and had a photo of Cleveland (not Shaker Heights) filed with it. Whoever wrote that story a) either never visited Shaker Heights or b) was drunk. I see they changed the story to Mount Pleasant, but there's no "Chagrin Street" there either! (Shaker Heights only has Boulevards, Roads, Ovals and Circles in its "street" names!) It's a beautiful city and no ghosts in sight!
