I'm not from Cleveland, but I think this would be the same anywhere. Your dog was leashed but not under control, so that's just like not being leashed. I think you should pay the vet bill now rather than when the judge orders you to pay it, along with an apology to the neighbor.

I don't see how you could see it any other way. Besides, a friendly neighbor is worth more than a vet bill.

Talk to a lawyer or pay the vet bill. I wouldn't recommend doing anything else.

Also, as an aside to the post above this one, don't ever assume that anything is the same anywhere. Most likely, it isn't.

And make sure your daughter is not walking the dog again until she can control him. I used to teach dog training classes for the community center and my first rule was everyone needs to be able to control their own dog. You can't believe how many parents wanted to drop off their ten year old with an aggressive Great Dane or something similar. Even when doing Schutzen training, I had a hard time holding back my own dog and he was only 74 lbs. I was told if I couldn't hold him, I wouldn't be able to participate because the safety of the agitators come first.

I think its the dog who came out the front doors fault!! (The un-leashed one)

THAT OWNER SHOULD PAY!!!!!!!! -- The dog should have been leashed!!

Both parties were at fault, neither had control of their dog, split the vet bill 50/50.
