It seems like many of them are on a decline. People are saying bechwood is declining. How? When I grow up, it was considered to be upper class all Jewish. It seems the west side is the exact same it was since people moved to those suburbs. Are the eastern suburbs really declining?

Shaker Hts is very good. But the rest of the inner-ring eastern suburbs are in a decline regarding schools, housing, crime, city finances. ie- Euclid, Clevelandhts, warrensville Hts, Garfield Hts, maple Hts, etc... East Cleveland has been gone for decades .

But why though? How come on the west side all the inner ring suburbs are great places to live (fairview park, Parma, Lakewood) etc all good but the east side they all went downhill?

Beachwood is not declining. Shaker heights, university heights aren't either. Cleveland heights has some rougher areas, but I wouldn't say it's declining because it's been like that for a while, and they're mostlY the areas bordering east Cleveland. Keep in mind Cleveland heights includes all those mansions on and off fairmount...

The tipping point.

Edit: The westside suburbs were whiter to begin with, afaik. Poor white vs. poor black.

2nd Edit: Lol Parma.

3rd Edit: Applying "decline" to eastern suburbs as a whole isn't correct. It's pockets of actual decline, some bigger than others. The rest is more different than what it was.

Parma is still a great place to live. Many people think that Parma grew a large minority rate, when it's about 90% white and 3 percent black. It was always a working class suburb to begin with and seen little to no decline. Cleveland heights, was a very rich Jewish suburb with the best schools in neo. Now the schools are struggling and while there may be a couple of pockets of wealth and night life in CH, a lot of it went downhill.

^ exactly...
People won't say it for fear of being called a bigot. But I don't care about political correctness bs.. Its the out migration from Cleveland.. The eastern inner ring suburbs will continue to become black. 75% of all black kids are born to single parents. When there is no family structure it equels high drop out rates, high crime with no regard for others, more poverty, more teen pregnancy... I predict many of eastern inner ring suburbs will be the new ghettos in 20 yrs.
The western suburbs are mostly all white with low crime . and cities like Parma will continue to draw legal eastern European immigrants , Asians and Porto Ricans from the near westside.
That is what has been happening for at least 30yrs.

I'm not super familiar with the eastern burbs, how are University Heights, South Euclid, Lyndhurst, and Mayfield Heights? Are those also on the decline?
