According to one study, Cleveland ranks as the 2nd most stressful metro area in the nation, outranked only by Detroit:

Stress rankings for 50 U.S. metros (http://www.bizjournals.com/specials/pages/153.html - broken link)

This kind of surprised me. So how about it, Clevelanders? Do you really feel as stressed as all that?

Another vague abstraction of statistics that mean nothing but what the publication that publishes it wants it to mean.

They could have cited something vital that contributes to stress, like watching the Indians' bullpen blow leads in the late innings...

LOL! Sports history in Cleveland ALONE could account for the high stress levels...not to mention the hide and seek game that the sun plays for about 7 months.

They got the murder rate way off again. It says 16 per 100k but thats for the 75 murders that they said happened. Cleveland actually had 119 murders in 2006 so it would be closer to 27 per 100k.

I agree that the sports alone could get Clevelanders stressed enough. I think all we need is one championship from one of the teams (most likely the Cavs, then the Indians, then Browns) and everyones stress levels will go way down.

I'm not sure about this. I think that losing and near-misses have become so ingrained in the culture that after the initial euphoria wore off(and city burning)...heavy depression would set in! Kind of like losing your identity a bit. Cleveland will no longer be the most tortured sports town. Remember how Red Sox Nation was always harping about how forlorn they were....you could tell they loved the attention.

Of course, I'll take it and chance the depression

My pick: The Browns. I'm a basketball fan first, but the Cavs are starting to look like a one-piston engine...Indians? Who the hell knows. C.C. dodging around and playing the "let's wait and see" game...

I lived in Cleveland my entire life until last summer and never had the impression that Clevelanders were stressed. Depressed and a bit negative? Yea, for sure...

Very vague study.

Watching the Indians & Browns during crunch time for playoffs makes me stressed. Add to that my husband was born & raised in Mass. & diehard BoSox fan.
This past Super Bowl was a sweet victory for me

Our sports teams need to get their acts together. I don't know what happened with the Indians, they just gave up. The Cavs made it all the way last year, thats fine with me. The Browns, way to go ANDERSON, four interceptions in one game screwed our playoff hopes.

Cleveland is a very livable city, with a great park system, lots of entertainment, and very low traffic problems. Our sports teams just need to get it all together. I have a positive feeling though.
