Ohio City seems to be a quite popular neighborhood for my age group (twenties/early thirties). However, it also seems that there are some crime issues/areas that don't feel the safest. Is there a part of Ohio City that is considered "safer?" What are the areas that would best to be avoided?

Typically the further west you go and the further south of Lorain you go, the rougher it gets.

That sounds about right. Personally I would try to stay north of Lorain, south of Detroit, and east of W. 44th. I don't think it's particularly easy to find apartments there unless you get lucky or are willing to pay out the nose.

Also still a little rough by Lutheran Hospital around W 25th and Bridge (and North), but improving rapidly.

I think that's mostly due to the projects being in the vicinity.

Agree with this. That area is on the upswing. It is now being called "Hingetown" (which I find to be corny). I manage an upscale apartment building right around there and some of my tenants have had to deal with car break ins and there was even an assault there.
