Hmm...that list must be old. I can't believe those figures. Usually, it DOES take a few years to compile statistics, but I made more money than some of those incomes, and I could not ever afford to live or purchase a home in those suburbs.
I made more money than the per capita of Chagrin Falls, but would never dream of moving there.
I grew up in Cleveland and I have to say, the middle class suburbs are going away. Places that were middle class digress to low income neighborhoods, and the nicer places keep middle class out.
See, the thing is, I think people think a place like Gates Mills or Westlake is middle class. They aren't...they are upper middle class (if that even exists) to RICH.
Very few homes can be bought new that are under 200k.
Well, here in Indiana you can, more land, but a lot less jobs.

Thats what I was trying to say. The news said that everyone was so surprised about it and that Westlake was going way downhill just because of this incident, I think a few people even said they might move because of this. There is drugs in every high school across America, and it has been that way for the past 30+ years, this is nothing new at all. Westlake and the rest of the suburbs are still very nice places and that is no reason to move at all.

Also the suburbs all have drugs, but I was saying that it doesnt really effect the crime rate at all. I mean whens the last time you have heard of a murder in Westlake??? or most of the suburbs? If it doesnt add crime and cause problems I wouldnt even waste time worrying about it like some of the people in the suburbs are.

I hope you're kidding. You know Rocky Rivers median household is less than most Cleveland suburbs?

Moreland Hills and Hunting Valley are pretty wealthy areas..also, Bentleyville (between Moreland Hills and Solon) and Shaker Heights.

Definitely Shaker Heights. Overall, it's not up there with say Waite Hill or Hunting Valley, but that's mainly cause Shaker's more diverse it has extensive middle class areas -- even slightly blue collar pockets. But overall, it's upper middle to wealthy. If you just included everything north of South Woodland (or even the Lakes), you'd easily match those pricy areas. If you drive among the mansions of South and North Park, you'll quickly see what I mean.

Its surprising that even though Shaker Heights went downhill a little, and even though it has a high density, and is pretty populated, its still a pretty wealthy area. If I was moving to the Eastside and had the money, Shaker Heights would definitely be high on my life of places to move to.

Many people live in Bath (Near Akron) and work in the Cleveland area. It is close to 77N and about a 25-30 minute drive to downtown Cleveland. Used to be a lot of farms there, now newer homes are built all the time. Also, a certain NBA star is building his mansion there...

Going back to the drug topic, I love the ignorance of people who live in the Suburbs and think that their community/high school is perfect, and their little jimmy/sally is the perfect kid. Truth is, and everyone here seems to know that too many people live in a dreamworld, or want it to be a perfect little area(everything gets swept under the rug). Myself living in one of those "nice" little suburbs, and seeing how everything is run in the schools, makes me sick. All of the nepotism and favoritism that my area had was amazing, and I'm sure its a country wide problem too.

Yeah, thats what I was saying. Everyone in Westlake and other suburbs seemed so surprised that there were drugs, like there was never drugs there before. Drugs are everywhere and anyone can get drugs if they look hard enough. There is drugs in pretty much every city and suburb, some places more than others. As long as you and your kids are smart and everyone is educated and makes the right choice there will never be a drug problem. People acted like Westlake was going to turn into E79th street or something. You cant get away from drugs and crime, I hope people will understand that some day.
