I do know that Bay has seen an increase in home prices.
Brook Park is less than desirable. Don't know why people would be purposely flocking there.

I have also heard that the area is growing pretty fast. Especially in the Eastern Lorain County area which is like the outer western suburbs of Cleveland. If you look at places like Avon, Avon Lake, and North Ridgeville there population has increased a lot since 2000. I live in North Ridgeville and they are building houses all over the place.

Thanks so much for your input. So Westlake and Strongsville are among those suggested here. Are they pretty much the same or different? I guess in terms of school system, diversity, and safety, etc..

I'd say yes to some aspects and no to others. Both areas are nicer than some other western suburbs and both are areas that people general move to rather than from. Schools are decent; dsuffer the same problem most public schools do with funding.
Westlake has a little more of an "uppity" feel to it due to some of its subdivisions and places like Crocker Park. It use to be a place where some pro sports players lived though I am not so sure any more. It has direct access to I-90 but it's a pain to get to 480 from Westlake.
Strongsville has grown tremendously over the years & just did major renovation to its mall which believe it or not gave a needed face lift to the city. Some very nice places to live there. More diversity in Strongsville.
Direct access to 71 & the turnpike.
Both as fairly safe as far as crime. Petty things here & there, but it's definitely a safe place to raise a family.
West side of Cleveland is far from perfect but its an affordable and nice place to raise a family. There is a lot to do with the metroparks, sports, rec centers, etc.

Would you suggest "some very nice places to live" in Strongsville.
Also if you could suggest nice place in Westlake I really appreciate. I was looking at southwest (corner of Westlake - which is almost in Avon, just north of Metropark.) In Strongsville, Northeast seems like a nice open area.
Thank you.

Southwest Westlake is closer to North Ridgeville, Center Ridge Rd. goes into NR, not Avon. Really though most places in Westlake are pretty nice. Depends on your budget, but most plots will be about the same size, houses will vary though. There is really no "bad" area to Westlake, mabye for the trailer park which does not really fit into the city, and some shady apartments on the edge with Lorain County. As for Strongsville, you can probably get more land and for a bit cheaper. They have an assortment of old and new houses too. Certain Areas can seem a bit out of the way, but thats really if you're getting towards the edges of the county.

Pretty much all the places Ive seen in Strongsville and Westlake seemed like really nice places. There isnt anywhere in those areas that I wouldnt move into if I could afford it.
Ive also been to Crocker Park and it seemed like a really nice shopping area.

Access to 480 from Westlake and Bay will be improving in the near future with the Crocker-Stearns Road connector scheduled to open in September 2009, which will provide a much needed direct route from 90 to 480 on the far west side. In the meantime, going down Porter to Butternut Ridge to Great Northern Blvd isn't that painful most days.

There's plenty of nice places to live in Lorain County too, and their taxes are lower. Have a look at Columbia Station, LaGrange, and Wellington - they're a little smaller, but very, very pleasant, with reasonably priced houses and infinitely less traffic then the western suburbs.

So except those edges, it seems like there is no area I should be concerned. But what about community? Are they again pretty similar in providing all kind of service to people? I found tax in Strongsville are higher than one in Westlake. Thanks.
