Cle440,
Lebron is going to New York, btw.
1.The Yankee hat
2.The Yankee shoe (only released on the east coast?!?)
3.The ongoing whining with the front office and punking of their man Mike Brown
4.The fame and willingness to pull off deals

Why would Lebron go to New York. The Knicks are terrible,I mean they have talent and they can't even win with it.And same with New Jersey. They couldn't win with Jason Kidd,Vince Carter, and Richard Jefferson all on the same team.I just do not see Lebron leaving Cleveland. His main thing is winning, and thats what the Cavs have been doing. They've made the playoffs two straight years, have won 50 games the past two years, and made the NBA Finals last year.Right now this season they are 37-27,and since thier in the Eastern Conference the Cavs are a lock for the playoffs.Plus the New York teams can't offer Lebron anymore money than the Cavs can.He is already one of the most popular NBA players,if not the most popular.

He would go for the reasons I listed . Seriously though, I can see him leaving for that big-time media market and all the money that can be made off of it. He is a huge star, but if you're Lebron, aren't you thinking how much bigger you would be in New York City? With Boston stepping up, now you have an interdivisional rivalry (Yanks-Sox anyone?), and even though the Knicks might be the worst team in the league sans Miami, they have talent, just not spread evenly throughout the right positions. And we know they would be willing to pull off a trade or spend money to obtain talent, which hasn't been a strong suit of the Cavs. The whole sucking up to New York with the Yankee hat and the Yankee basketball shoe was enough to make the rumors real for me. I mean if he's so loyal, why would he wear a Yankee hat in front of all Northeast Ohio or come out with a shoe that'll never hit shelves in Ohio? Not to mention it's in navy and white...

I just don't see him leaving Cleveland.I will be suprised if he leaves when his contract is up.On the thing about the Knicks being willing to spend money and trade.Well they do those things, but they have a team full of underacheivers so that means thier not making the right trades and thier not spending thier money wisely. And the Cavs just did make a big trade. And even after the trade the Cavs just made, they are still going to be in good shape to get another good player around Lebron. And so far after the trade the Cavs have been playing well. And we still have several players that are injured, when thier all back I think the Cavs are going to be in really good shape.Really though on Lebron leaving Cleveland, will just have to wait til 2010 to see what happens.

^^C'mon guys, that's sports talk right there--we have the "Cleveland Sports" thread.

And this is RRHOF talk. But I suppose it for the betterment of the city.
To answer your question, there is more money to be made in NYC and the company that owns the Rock Hall is based out of NYC. I believe tickets go for something around $3000 a piece for the induction ceremony--No way you could charge that in Cleveland. (plus the music industy is there, more money to be made overall in NYC, etc)
BUT....if you haven't heard, this time next near Cleveland will be hosting the event (part of a one in three year rotation). Changes include:
- Instead of a one night event, it will be a week long celebration of celebrities and concerts
- They will be holding the actaul ceremony at the Q or Wolstein Center and be selling the tickets for the "price of a normal rock concert" so the public can enjoy it (instead of the filthy rich...)

NYC might be like the biggest market, but its not like Cleveland is small. The area has 3 million people and the whole Cleveland market has 4.5 million (14th largest). Also the Cavs are giving Lebron plenty of money, and they also said that no other team could match what the Cavs are paying him.
Cleveland has become a hotspot for sports now. All of our teams are good. The Indians had the best record in the whole league (tied with Boston), and would have won the world series if they could have beat the Red Sox just one more time, and they will have another chance this season. The Cavs beat Detroit and went to the finals last year. Even the Browns tied with the Titans & Steelers to make it into the playoffs but they didnt get the spot. Seeing that none of the teams are any worse off than last year (improved) you can expect them to get even further this year, which means winning a championship.
Also Hillside, Im surprised that you said that Cleveland has a bad transit system being from Cincinnati and all, do you guys even have a rail system? I dont think so.

Obviously I know that there is more money to be made in NYC. It was more of a rhetorical question than anything else. I didn't know that it will be held here though next time around. Wonder if any of the Celebs will show up or opt out for a video acceptance

Yes, I was referring to the East bank of the flats.
And I have spent ALOT of time in the warehouse district over the last year. I'm not saying it's horrible, but there are alot of abandoned buildings around there.
And do you guys watch channel 3 news? I always hear about some shooting that happened in the flats outside some club. The main reason I don't go there anymore.

The flats is still pretty rough right now. There is murders there, at least a few a year, but its not like it happens all the time.
The worst club before was moda nightclub in Ohio city. People in the neighborhood said they used to have fights and shootings there every single day. They even had videos up on youtube with gunshots and hundreds of people pouring out of the club and in the streets. They finally shut the place down, but I think it was because the owner and not the club.

Don't get offended now. It wasn't about Cincinnati. Our transit is a joke, probably the worst of any major city. But speaking on Cleveland's, the rail is not comprehensive and the ridership is low.

Ill admit that Cleveland doesnt have the best rapid transit system in the country (even though it got that award..?) but still if you compare it to any other city thats the size of Cleveland, I think Cleveland has one of the best. The ridership also isnt that low I think they said it was 15th in the country? or something like that. At least were better than Detroit, and Buffalo which only has 1 rail that goes in a straight line, now thats a joke.
