My point, based on comments that I've read on tripadvisor.com, attendance figures, numbers of opposition fans, etc., is that fans of teams in more expensive cities such as NYC, see Cleveland as a cheap alternative. E.g., Yankees fans in western NY certainly can save money by taking in a game in Cleveland as opposed to NYC.

I don't think many Indian fans perceive any financial advantage to see an Indians game in another city than Cleveland.

For Toronto fans, it's a way to combine a cheap vacation, perhaps inclusive of Cedar Point, with a Blue Jays game.
My point is that Cleveland doesn't really get baseball tourism that is any different from anywhere else. Trip advisor proves nothing. Cleveland is not a tourist hotspot in this regard. I know because I worked in a tourist hotspot for baseball. There are two: Chicago and Boston. Just calling it objectively.

Cleveland being dead last or near dead last every year in recent years has seemingly gone unnoticed in this conversation. As well as the part as not being able to sell out the season after the world series appearance. Actually, not even selling half the stadium out frequently.

It's pathetic when only being 3rd last in MLB in attendance is an improvement from 2 years ago: http://www.espn.com/mlb/attendance

Not sure how this is even a debate to be honest. I really want to believe that people care more about Cleveland baseball, trust me!

Go to a Yankees game at Progressive Field and tell me that all of the Yankees fans are from Greater Cleveland!

Note that this bus tour company follows the Yankees to only two cities -- Boston and Cleveland.

Product Categories New York Yankees

Ditto, day trips here:

Sporting Events - D & F Travel, Inc.

They are running buses to Cleveland!

Toronto Blue Jays to Cleveland:

Toronto Blue Jays Bus Tour - Cleveland Indians July 21-23 2017

If tour operators can fill buses, you don't believe that large numbers of fans are flying or driving to Cleveland?

Those numbers will change once the summer comes around and the Tribe is still in 1st. Avg attendance per game will top out at around 26k which will put Cleveland's attendance in the middle of the pack. Last year at this time they were averaging under 14k per game.

I lived in Sandusky for 3 years and visited Cleveland almost twice a week. It has the bones to be an amazing city for Millennials. If you want to know how to attract Millennials, look at cities that have been getting explosive growth by the generation (Portland, Austin, Denver, Seattle).

While you can't beat the weather or mountains of those places, the city can improve in things like high tech jobs, dense downtown neighborhoods, light rail, walking/biking trails, open spaces, the arts, legalization, etc.
Do what San Jose does! It has good weather, mountains, high tech, great downtown, open spaces and then some.

Oh, look a typical West Coaster bigging up Cali by putting down Cleveland. How original.

I think what he means is Chicago with Wrigley and Boston with Fenway. Can fill these stadiums with tourist to their cities and Tours between games. Though it really isn't about stadium capacity and these stadiums alone.

Other sports in these cities also have a strong regional pull and tourist seeking them out too. I don't think sports define a city or lessen or elevate it more then a mention as a plus for them over some other cities. Cleveland is Cleveland whether the Browns are there of not. So really does not help it to be a "it" city more like Nashville?

Nashville also had a tourist component before it became this so-called "it" city. Cleveland does not have that tourist aspect to feed off of? At least not to the degree of a Capital of Country Music?
