I'll be in CLE from Saturday (night) May 27 until Sunday June 4 (early evening flight departure). The gf is also coming so I want to have some fun things to do. Already planning to go to an Indians game vs Oakland, potentially a Cavs game if they are still in the playoffs at that time (and if it won't cost a fortune).

I'm already thinking a few things: Amish country visit, Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, chill over in Punderson State Park, Lake Farm Park, Squires Castle, Stan Hywet Hall, maybe Akron Rubber Ducks game, Rock Hall, Polka Hall, maybe Football Hall. My gf has already been to the main sites in Cleveland- WSM, Art museum, cultural gardens, Great Lakes Brewing, Happy Dog, Little Italy, Ohio city, Tremont, Gordon Square in addition to Cleveland Orchestra at Blossom. Planning to spend one day in either Columbus or Pittsburgh.

Are there any new breweries or particularly good restaurants that have opened lately? Any specific events happening that week? I'm always disappointed that I'm never around for any of the Night Markets or the Feast, Dyngus Day or any of those main festivals. I know the Rib cook off is that weekend but not really into that.

Anyway, if anyone has any knowledge of some good events or things I might not have considered, please let me know. Still hoping to convince her that CLE is the way to go and get out of the east coast!

I'm always a fan of Mill Creek Park in Youngstown. You could go for a little hike, take a paddle boat, perhaps a tour of the park on the Trolley or visit Fellows Riverside Gardens. Downtown there are several restaurants, a local history museum, The Museum of Labor and Industry and The Butler Museum of American Art (it's free).

Masthead is located downtown and is excellence! Go watch the Tribe win and drop in afterwards. Bar 32 has really good cocktails and the best view in the city. There's also a new brewery named Saucy Brew set to open sometime in May near Hingetown. Have you been to Platform or Hansa Brewery yet? Plum (hip restaurant) opened up next door to Platform. It's a nice place to take a hot date. I'd also recommend Brick and Barrel.

Lastly, if you haven't been to Edgewater and Whiskey Island since the metroparks took over you should check it out. They'll both have a lot going on that weekend.

C-rob2727 has some good suggestions. I've been to Hansa twice now, enjoyed the beer and food both times. Perch was good.

If you want to venture into the Cuyahoga Valley, consider the Tinkers Creek Gorge: https://www.google.com/maps/@41.3849...0869,18z?hl=en Take the Egbert loop trail down into the gorge. Just north of the parking lot, before you start the trail, you can look down into the gorge from above. Be careful, it is a complete drop off of a sandstone cliff.

Consider the lower part of the gorge here: https://www.google.com/maps/@41.3755...5072,18z?hl=en
Park at the Hemlock Creek parking area and take the loop area. Right now, the Virginia bluebells are in bloom, see the picture I took last weekend. They will have gone dormant by the time you're here, but there will be other wildflowers to look at. This is an easy trail to take, although there is spur that goes up to the north side of the gorge, probably about 200 ft climb, but the views are nice. Highly recommended.

Consider Chippewa creek area of Brecksville section of the park. https://www.google.com/maps/@41.3199...5674,18z?hl=en
The Chippewa creek cuts a pretty steep gorge with large boulders. See picture. Depends upon how rugged you like your hiking but you can get a pretty tough workout here if you want.

Staying in the Cuyahoga Valley, another favorite trail of mine is here: https://www.google.com/maps/@41.1704...3922,18z?hl=en
This trail offers nice views of the valley from on top, then you take the staircase down into the Yellow Creek Valley and walk along the stream - which is beautiful. Then you hike it back up, completing the loop. Offers views of downtown Akron.

If you are in the southern section of the Cuyahoga Valley, and feel like a good brewski, definitely check out R'Shea in Merriman Valley: https://www.google.com/maps/@41.1332...2149,18z?hl=en
Very good East coast/ West coast style IPAs. Some very good experimentals. I'm a home brewer, this guy knows what he's doing.

I won't cover my Cleveland list other than - Buckeye Brewing in Lakewood. Good place if you're in the area. But there are many good places for fresh beer in Cleveland these days. Have fun

Pictures for previous post. These are all taken in the Cuyahoga Valley, Tinker's creek area (flowers) and Chippewa Creek Gorge.

One other short thing to do in and around downtown Cleveland - a short driving tour (or better yet, a bike tour) of the various bridges in the flats. Several of these you can drive across, several others you'll be looking up at the superstructure of the bridge. Others are decommissioned but are of historical significance. This tour is good during the day or at night when some of the bridges are lit up. See the picture included. The roads that have been highlighted in red are drive-able. I have also placed stars near the bridges that you will be driving over, orange stars are for larger bridges you will be looking up at from below or are decommissioned. Have fun.

I went to this new brewery over the weekend. This place is fantastic. Definitely worth a trip, but expect long waits if you're trying to grab a table to eat.

Terrestrial Brewing opens this Friday next to Cha in Battery Park. Vita Urbana, in the Shoreway building, is also a worthwhile stop to check out.

I'd also recommend Astoria on Detroit Ave. It's pretty great.
