Westlake, Bay Village, Avon, and Avon Lake are all great suggestions. The schools are wonderful in the respective districts. You will be close to family, less than 20 minutes from everything downtown Cleveland has to offer, and close to the Lake. Westlake, especially, has a wealth of entertainment and family-friendly attractions for a young family. I think you will find the home prices reasonable (especially with the recent market trends), and the neighborhoods attractive and friendly.

Good luck!

All the cities mentioned are nice-I heard Avon has really great schools. N.R. is nice as well. I don't think North Olmsted would be bad either.

I will go along with the crowd. Rocky River, Bay and Avon Lake is where you should look at. All three cities have what you are looking for. Of those, Bay is a little less expensive and just as safe and the schools are just as good.

Really most of the west side suburbs are pretty good. Since you have family out on the far west side, it could be nice to move out there, other wise other west side cities like North Royalton, Broadview Hts, Brecksville, Independence, and Valley View are good, with good schools. Theres also the west side cities that border Cleveland, that are still good like Brooklyn, Lakewood, Parma, Fairview Park, while they are not as bad as their east side counterparts, and overall safe, i'd stick with the first ones I mentioned since you have kids.
