The Place to Raise a Family in Cleveland Suburbs...
My family and I (2 kids: 2yrs and 1 month) are looking to move out of south florida. The Mecca of heat and hurricanes. I no longer want to spend the rest of my life in an air conditioned house. My wife and I are originally from NY (long Island) and we enjoyed the cold and 4 seasons. We miss it and want our kids to enjoy the same. We chose Ohio because we wanted to be by some family. We have cousins and friends in Rocky River and Avon Lake. Any suggestions on where a good place to move. We would like to purchase a home, but may find renting to be best at first. I am also looking to start a business (a Health and Wellness Center). We are looking for a family oriented neighborhood, affordable housing ($200K), and good schools for the kids. I would love your feedback.
Thanks,
B

I am from Rocky River. You won't regret this area. Great schools, some of the best in the nation, right in the middle of the Cleveland Metro Park system, and close to the big city entertainment of Downtown Cleveland. If you need anymore info, please feel free to ask, and I will try to help.

Rocky River is perfect. A mix of wealthier homes on the lake, with townhouses, apartments, ranch style homes, etc in the rest of the city. It's VERY suburban, but also has an urban charm. It's only a couple miles from Downtown Cleveland as well.. Doesn't get very much snow relatively speaking to the East side. Good schooling as well.

Rocky River would be my number one pick. If you are looking for an apartment complex to stay for a year i would recommend Erie Shore Landing. It is in Sheffield Lake (5 minutes from Avon, and 15 from River). It is a amazing property on the Lake. All suites have a view of the lake, they also have a water front pool and tennis court. Some of my friends stayed there. I think its a little more pricey but they love it there!

S. Florida to Ohio
Where in South Florida are you? We are in Weston and my wife might be transfered up to Akron. Hudson seems like a nice area and somewhat similar to the Weston lifestyle.

My family and I are in Plantation. Looking at the West side of Cleve. Have buddy's and some family up there. What is making you leave FL? For us it is the cost of living among other things. Thanks for your reply.

wow...I am outside Pensacola, Florida and my job is sending us back to Ohio. We moved down about 2 years ago from Akron, Ohio. I think this time I will be in Cleveland or Columbus.
