I'm trying to understand why my insurance rates have gone up 70% over just a 4 year span.

I was paying $1240 per year for auto and home insurance in 2013.
I'm now paying $2080 per year for the same exact coverage in 2017. I have All-state. The rates have steadily increased.

I'm finding that recent quotes from Progressive, State Farm, and Nationwide are the same or even more.

What gives?

Our home went up 20K in value during this 4 year span, but the cars decreased in value.
We have no moving violations, or claims.
We have the same exact discounts applied to the policies.
Same 800+ credit scores
It's just me and my wife.

Is this how insurance companies treat Ohio citizens? Just raise their rates despite their meticulous driving records and depreciation of vehicles? Has this happened to others?

Call your agent and ask. Then state, "Well, it's time I shop around."

See what happens. I think some do this automatically until you actually call and ask. I've changed companies a few times to lower rates. I am in CA, but have not had a ticket in over 20 years. My cars are not worth it so I just get liability.

Your rates are CHEAP compared to what I'm paying, I'll say that. I'm over 3K by far with cars and home coverage, but CA is stupid that way.

No. My rates have gone down. Your insurance company obviously doesn't like you a whole lot.

Apparently they don't like me having no claims and want to just raise my rates.

Quotes at all the other places are the same way, so they obviously don't want my business either.

Who do you have?

State Farm. $1240 per year for full coverage on 2 vehicles and full replacement of dwelling and content on a home is awfully cheap. I pay about $1850 for the same coverage. Obviously, the more expensive the vehicle and the larger the house, the higher the coverage.

I'm thinking that they had the rate really low to get me to switch, and then they raised it up over time to normal rate. Home is full replacement costs and 250k/500k bodily, 100k property, 50k/100 uninsured, 500 deductible on both cars. $1240 did seem rather cheap. I'm wondering if they made a mistake for the first year.
