Default Concerts

Hi guys. I am not from Cleveland (I have never been there to be honest) yet I am from Pittsburgh (please don't hold it against me.) I envy your city because you guys get some great concerts. Many musicians pass over Pittsburgh for Cleveland. What is your secret?

Have a good day!

Im not exactly sure. Cleveland and Pittsburgh are pretty close together and I guess that most people will have to pick one of them to have a concert at. I think Cleveland is a bigger market area than Pittsburgh so thats why they would have a concert in Cleveland and not Pittsburgh. Also Im not completely familiar with Pittsburgh but Cleveland has many different places/centers to have concerts at. Cleveland is also one of the historical places to hold concerts at "hello Cleveland!!!" lol, so that might have something to do with it.

But anyways Im sure that many people hold concerts in Pittsburgh or both the cities, its not like Pittsburgh doesnt have any concerts.

Don't get to upset Raubre, Cleveland often get passed over for Detroit for many concerts. I've had to travel up there a few times for a concert that wasn't going to be held in Cleveland.

Maybe musicians, choose Philly to hold their concerts for the Pennsylvania since its a larger city and will make more money there?

Simple. CLEVELAND ROCKS!

The best audiences can be found there and musicians feed off of that. Cleveland also has historically had radio stations that went out and got the concerts for us--like WMMS. Several artists have also broken out here (Springsteen for example) and so they feel loyalty or comfortable, I think. And a lot of musicians are from here--Chrissie Hynde, Joe Walsh, Trent Reznor, etc.

But I did see Paul McCartney in 1989 at the Civic Arena in Pittsburgh--he didnt make it to Cleveland on that leg of his tour (but did come a few months later, where he played to 80,000 people in Muni Stadium). 80,000 people rockin' out to "Let It Be", with a rain softly falling on a hot July night--I will never forget it.

Seriously, Cleveland has awesome audiences who are knowledgeable and passionate about music. They dance on their chairs and participate! LA has lame audiences that sit in their chairs and look bored as they wait to be seen by everyone else. I so miss Cleveland concerts!

mainstream shows are the same everywhere, but as far as indie venues go, not sure if Pittsburgh can boast venues like the Beachland Ballroom and Grog Shop that attract high profile indie acts of all kinds.
there's House of Blues too, which has great acoustics and a great looking venue, but is starting to suck money away from the much cooler venues in the name of the almighty LiveNation dollar.

They dont say "Cleveland Rocks" for no reason...

That may be why he have more concerts here than Pittsburgh does.
